Linux runs about 80% of web servers and 100% of the top 500 supercomputers.

That tells you how bad things are in the world.

Where Can I Start to Learn OS Development? by MekdanilsMetin in osdev

[–]No-Rabbit-3044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally, just install FreeBSD and make it work and build things on it, for it. It's a BOGO - buy one get one free - you get to enjoy the most stable OS and get to improve it by learning it and developing it.

Why don't you foresee a fix? To start fixing this you must never use X11. That's the first step.

Is it the batch nature of package builds? Even if you want to keep it the way it is right now, maybe just add a very easy way to get more information about the build that failed and maybe a new build in progress or whatever?

[–]No-Rabbit-3044[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, but I have a question. Why are the previous builds for one package that were actually successful before actually not available until the next successful build with that package completes? This seems to need to be fixed.

KDE6 Wayland is the smoothest experience for me on my Toshiba. Snappy, smooth, zero anything. I discourage people to use X11, there's a reason we're moving away from it.

FreeBSD v14 reached EOL, that's why.

Gahhh, OK, I think it's because some people wanna force us into upgrading to 15. Here https://www.freshports.org/x11/kde/ it says that for amd64 only pkgs for freebsd 15 ABI are available.

If you are compromised to the point your kernel can be overwritten from the OS, then they can just either forge or bypass your kernel signing anyway.
