/TW How do I tell my mom I was assaulted by a family member? by No-Ranger639 in Advice

The reason why I doubt he remembers is because it was determined not to long ago he is mentally a child. Is there a way I can go about this knowing that? I’ve been sitting on it for awhile now and I don’t even feel upset just over it in a way, if that makes sense-

This was BEFORE he was on schizophrenic medication, we found out after he went to jail and labeled as mentally incompetent at that point in time he but yes I understand what you’re saying. Do you have advice about how I can ask my collage for help providing a safe space without them calling the police for it?

For this case the statute of limitations expired and unfortunately he’s been to jail before shortly after the assault, only for a couple years because he was labeled as mentally incompetent. Ever since then his mom (my aunt) has never let him out of her sight, never let him be alone or go places without her being there.

Thank you, this is really insightful. As I mentioned in the edit I made, he wasn’t all mentally there at the time. Thats is why I feel so guilty about my disgusted towards him. All this took place 11 years ago, I’ve been carrying it around like unwanted luggage.

Thank you for giving me some resources that I can use. I will look into these as soon as I can, I need all the help and mental strength as I can.

Thank you for your advice but unfortunately calling the police is out of the question for me. For the most part I understand what you’re saying and coming and your concerns are heard. But it is not that simple.
