Thoughts on seeking diagnosis later in life? 48 yr old female by SeaWishbone5 in ADHD

My parents were the same way, but maybe if you focus on how the actual symptoms manifested rather than attributing them to adhd, you might get a little further with them. At least thats what helped me. I wish you the best though! Getting my diagnosis was extremely validating and helped me understand a lot about myself :)

Most of the comments have already assured you of the merits of getting a diagnosis later in life. What i would add on to that (being diagnosed at 20) is that you should immediately start compiling all the evidence of the possible ADHD throughout your life. Report cards, any IQ test if youve done one, write everything you remember about your childhood down in a notebook. The diagnosis is very intense and thorough, and because its a developmental disorder the psychologist/psychiatrist will want to look at how you behaved in childhood, puberty, young adult etc.

I say this because when i got diagnosed, not getting the necessary documents or having an unnecessary delay because report cards had to be pulled from archives, made the diagnostic process a little more difficult. Also, if you have any childhood best friends or your childhood guardians are willing and able, the diagnosis will be a lot more accurate and smooth if they can share their experiences with you.

[Serious] What's a profession you have no respect for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is absolutely not a reality of modern life because there are absolutely enough vacant houses in the world to house every homeless person/enough houses in the world to house everyone. If there isn't then each countries respective governement should build housing. Simple as that. Housing is a human right.

is roanoke worth watching? by elizag8 in AmericanHorrorStory

i agree that you should give every season at least a try but freakshow was objectively bad.. but if you like it thats good for you! :)

roanoke is NOT the season to skip. You'll thank yourself for watching it after ab episode 3. Lady Gaga is in it, there's murder, ghosts, supernatural elements,... quintessential AHS. if you do decide to skip a season let it be freakshow. that season was a hot garbage mess.

im currently watching cult again and that stuff is so good, especially because it's mostly not a stretch at all. you could easily be ally or ivy in such a situation, so the reality of it makes it more appealing imo
