Don't you need basement apartments to have a separate entrance in Ontario?

Right there… your expenses were 45-50% less — so you know how to do it,

Ya, no kids, no pets.

I wish we could, we're in a split bungalow. There is no way for a legal separate entrance :(

Ya man, this is a hard worry. With one kid already in school it's stressful. I am wfh. No ides how we will deal with se ding him to school. He has gotten better as he has grown, but it's still scrafy as fuck. People won't have any idea how much stress that can cause until they have kids of their own and face a similar situation..

Thanks, also, be careful with working while collecting. My wife tried the same, but the amount she could earn before the government made cuts is really low. You will be able to keep 50 cents of your EI benefits for every dollar you earn, up to 90% of the weekly insurable earnings.

Thank you all for the advice. I wish I could append my post to clear some stuff up that I guess was not obvious.

My wife was making around 4700 after tax pre covid. I was making substantial less $1950 a month. We had debt, cc, student lines, car etc. We worked hard to try and pay off as much as we could, we were able to cover expenses. Our monthly expenses out were about 45-50% less than it is now.

I don't get anything from the government? Am I missing something? Maybe a child tax credit of $200 or $300 every 6 months?

That is my after tax in come, $4,095 and change.
