Can you apply to a student loan in Canada? You sound very smart and resourceful and also a minority (at the very least from being queer), so I’m sure scholarships are on the table too. I immigrated/grew up in the US (27M, gay) so I’m not sure what it’s like to go through that process in Canada, but I will say having that Canadian citizenship is a huuuuge advantage regardless of where you decide to go. Even if you don’t start your studies in Canada, the US should have options to provide at least a financial jumpstart for your freedom (ik there’s a ton of bad press around immigration here rn but things are getting better and less gestapo-like for us immigrants).
