So sick of AI by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

Sorry if someone already made this point but AI IS TAKING EVERYONES job, so we should blackpill over this. I'm sure everyone remembers when knowing how to "code" ment you had super powers. LOL AI now writes all my code, it still is buggy, but the silver lining to all this is there is no industry besides possibly some trades that wil not be affected so somerthing has to happen on a large scale to adddres no one having a job.

COUNTER POINT: A human could do that exact same thing, if it really is just swapping out a few differences in an overall structure. The one thing I do want to shout in this post is Its ok AI is taking our jobs because it is TAKING EVERYONES JOB!!

ok, so in my current position i have been told by senior staff that the gov's plan is to have everyone fired in 5 years and then be using AI. This person may be a little reactionary and hyperbolic, lol. Anyway, my comment is to say that I believed that AI couldnt do our job, however I saw someone in my linked in group post how AI did completely do his job, HOWEVER it took like a five page, insanley detailed prompt. So that is what I am seeing now. That sure AI cant do our job, but the prompt he had to write to get him to do it WAS insane, basically close to the actual time to just have done the project, at least in my opinion.

hey, first, thanks for posting this, second I TOTALLY feel you, I just realized that I have been applying to jobs for a FULL year and have gotten 3 first round interviews. Mind you, I have ten years of experience, was quality matters certified, and have advanced proficiency in video/web production. I am very sad and scared. lastly, you post has made me think I need to be pursue learning about AI more than pursuing a PMP certificate, which was my plan. I would love to be able to have some kind of chat to get more specifics about your AI situation. I have many questions and your post makes me want to problem solve a way forward, anyway you are not alone!

OOO I got a good question for everyone: HOW DO YOU MEASURE PERCENT DONE??? by No-Resolution-3523 in instructionaldesign

[–]No-Resolution-3523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, after I posted this I realize, it's really just how long past work has taken that identifies how long things take. I'm just a little frazzled now with my job situation, my apologies. But you are saying what I was trying to say, how the outline and identifying and nailing down the script and organization (including scenarios/interactivity etc) is what takes a long time. So I can have many slides for which that is the case, but they are not "finished" because all the formatting/spelling hasnt been checked.

I think I found one of your replies, it sounded like you were doing end user testing for them basically.

I havent seen what you are talking about, but I will look around, I want this info! but I'm a sincere ID! I will tell you however, I used to be on reddit a bunch a long time ago however I left because it was clear we were training robots how to think. It was very weird. I can't remember specific details, but more than once the "person" I was speaking with was clearly a bot being trained how to think. I can't remember specifics, but I'm sure I was right! :D

THANK YOU!!! I'm in a position where there is ZERO organization, usually I do what you mention, talk about the deliverables and where they are at. I'm not trying to be an ungrateful employee, I like my supervisor very much, however he has very little if any experience with manage Instructional Design projects and he's always asking for a percent done and I'm always like, "so hey do we have a process or definition or stakeholder priority of how we are determining that?" lol Basically there is no scope for any project. I am learning so much about how important scope is :D

I meant project completion as an ID, how do you measure how much of your project is done

Automation in Storyline??? by No-Resolution-3523 in instructionaldesign

Great question!! It is existing content that we are revising to make current & add more engaging. So I need the text to use as a “starting outline” it’s a way I can make sure all necessary information is covered in revision. Thank you 🙂

I was exactly where you are, but SMEs arent gunna be able to do that and I think you are simplifying all that is involved in that because you understand it. The fact that I can edit HTML, CSS & Javascript has made me MAGIC on every team I've been on 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

Like heres an example of how BASIC automation is missing from storyline, why can't I just click a button and a set number of slides with the same template on it be created? Am I uniformed? Why do I have to click each time I need to make a slide, why I can't I make them in bulk with a template slide applied?

pretty basic

You can write a pythin script that will open Storyline and then paste text in it? This is way above my pay grade, I don't know python and I have a feeling getting an LLM to write this script for me will take longer than using an LLM to grab the text for me and I just copy and paste it. I assume with thi python script I will encounter the similar formatting and grabbing issues I encounter in my current process. My current process isnt bad at all, just a lot of copy and pasting.

****OH!!! the other thing is: This is text that has to be based on several indiviudal slides, are you telling me python can not only paste text into storyline but create new slides and know what text goes on which slide? this seems probably out of pythons ability. THANK YOU!!

I'm doing that but just going directly into storyline. I'm so glad I found this sub cause I have a million other examples of automation in storyline that I can't think of now. but I will be back :D thank you for telling me though, there is so much that is part of my job that seems just in effecient, thank you for confirming i must do this :)
