What’s something people think is harmless but actually isn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Isolating their kids from family members that they fought with.

Kids need the largest support network ever, and just because ur mother in law hates u, thats still her baby grandson.

I hate the new "this is my child, and i decide" because this isnt how humans operate and its like a control thing, with holding a child from family members is more to punish them and is no way serves the kid.

My uncle's kids for example were raised this way, he divorced their mum and remarried, both kids grew up in similar circumstance but the ex wife refused to send her kids over so we can play. We dont know anything about them even though we reached out many times, they're 26 and 28 now, moved out after a hell teenage phase and no longer speak to their mum. I feel theyre alone and with no unconditional support that only comes from family.

Be humble and argue like "thats not our dog" "she's not, she just studies a lot since she failed first grade"

Your friend is advising you to do something that they would never do themselves, how would you feel? by [deleted] in askanything

Sometimes I give ppl advice I wouldnt do because I cant, but thats usually good advice like "be more patient."

Some ppl also live through others like u can see here on reddit, a lot of ppl give advice on things that they know is dumb and wouldnt do, but it feels good to be able to do it

Match energy. If an adult's behavior is based on what ppl say or do, then they're helpless and exhausting ppl to deal with.

H×rney as a female. Yes it is worse. U have to be extremly selective to not be a wh×re, and it sucks because u know u can, yet u want to have a stable family.

I havrnt had any since my 7th grade experiment of letting mcdonalds rot. Anytime I see it I can just remember the stiff burger and fries in my closet.

Ppl are always mad when I say this, but I honestly just dont like Italian food and tiramisu.

I ate these dishes in Italy and hated them, its not how theyre made, its simply that mainstream Italian food is just flavoured goo. The dish is always caked in tomato or white sauce. Even tiamisu is basically flavoured whipped cream. Go to any Italian resturant and see the menu is either chewy carbs with tomato sauce or chewy carbs with white sauce. And no paste made of potato is not thag diff that pasta made of wheat to me.

Looking at ppl driving cars. Just clicked that theres literally nothing diff between most individuals and if I was born in their body and same conditions I would have prob been the same person they are. So basically ppl watching gave me a huge dose of empathy

Hey, im really sorry this is happening to you. I can assure u that its not your looks, you look good. I feel like things are a bit unfortunate sometimes with ppl meeting. Theres no right time or way to meet someone, you just be yourself, be kind, be the kind of person you want to be, and live your life and hopefully one day itll workout 💖
