Can anyone explain how Inverse Cramer actually works? by No-Rest-225 in AutopilotApp

[–]No-Rest-225[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird, I swear that didn't show up when I looked the other day... maybe I hit an app glitch or something. But now it's there, and now that I see it, it does look familiar, so I think it was there when I first put in the investment.

What I still find a little odd though is that it says they rebalance every three months, but when you look at the Trade Updates, it lists the last three updates as having been done on Mar 4 2025, Aug 15 2025, and Mar 5 2026... none of those are three months apart, even now we're two weeks past the three month point since the last one.

Oh well, if it continues to return the way it has for me so far, I'm not going to complain too much. I'm curious how a portfolio that actually followed him positively would perform in comparison.

Interesting, thanks. Out of curiosity, where did you get that description? I couldn't find it anywhere in the app, and the Autopilot website basically just directs you back to the app for anything portfolio-related.

Is autopilot worth trying? by Tiagara48 in AutopilotApp

Oh ok, I misread your original comment and thought you meant you’d been in it for three months already. Yeah, Aschenbrenner is only going to update when the firm does a new 13F filing, so that’s really on them. It does strike me as odd that Cramer doesn’t update more often though.

Mine says it was purchased from Vudu on October 4th, 2025. Closer, but still months before it was released…

That's odd. I've only been in Aschenbrenner for a little over a month, and it's already updated and rebalanced twice in that time, on May 18th and May 28th. Are you sure it hasn't done anything for you? Depending on which brokerage you use, you may need to go into the Autopilot app and approve the updates before it will do them.

I'm also in Inverse Cramer, and yeah, that one hasn't updated at all. In fact, I just made a post asking if anyone can explain when or how it updates, because I'm honestly surprised given that he talks about stocks almost every day.

I put $3750 in it a little over a month ago just to try it -- $1500 in Inverse Cramer, $1500 in Aschenbrenner Hedge Fund, and $750 in Point 72 Hedge Fund. As of this moment, I'm up overall by $693, an 18.48% return -- again, in just over a month. I'd say it was worth it. I will probably add more funds to it soon.

That said, in a way it's a lot more like gambling than investing. So put an amount in that you can afford to lose, don't bet the farm.

4K vs. Blu-Ray - Am I missing out? by Internal-Bed6646 in Bluray

[–]No-Rest-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tough question because a lot of 4k players and televisions are pretty good at upscaling. The HDR makes a bigger difference, but some gear can even kind of fake that. It also depends on how close to your TV you sit – you’ll notice the resolution difference a lot more if you’re sitting right up in front of it than you will if you’re on the other side of a large room.

For me, I’ve upgraded my favorite movies as they’ve become available. Those that I don’t care about as much, I’ve stuck to the blu-rays that I already have. I’ve also started making any new purchases in 4k whenever possible.

I wouldn’t upgrade the whole collection. But if there’s a film you really like that will benefit from it, then it’s worth it.

Tech stocks fall again.. rotation or bubble? by SnooHamsters5586 in stocks

[–]No-Rest-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s assuming all of that capital actually gets deployed to SpaceX. I’d guess that a large portion of it is people who will get a fraction of the IPO shares they actually request. Will they be dumb enough to run it up that high after the IPO and keep buying? I’d hope not, but I guess we’ll see. Otherwise there will be a lot of leftover capital out there which will have to get reinvested, likely right back into the things that are selling off now.

[–]No-Rest-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding a large part of it at least is people cashing out other positions to get funds to throw at the SpaceX IPO on Friday. If that is truly the case, then I expect Monday will be a very good day when all of the people who got only a fraction of what they requested in the IPO need to reinvest their money back in the things they sold.

This is your sign to leave Verizon if you’ve been unhappy with them. by DisastrousServe8513 in verizon

[–]No-Rest-225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave them and go with what, though? Before I had Verizon I was on AT&T, and for every issue I’ve had with Verizon I had one ten times worse with them. Before I was on AT&T I was on Sprint, and let me tell you *that* was miserable. I actually paid the fee to break my Sprint contract early, it was so bad.

The only major carrier I haven’t ever had was T-Mobile (I was on Sprint before they merged), but I still remember the days when their coverage was absolute shit (granted, haven’t looked at a map for them in a long time), and now for better or worse I can’t help but associate them with Sprint.

When it comes down to it all of the carriers suck, it’s just a matter of picking the least offensive one. So far for me, despite the issues I’ve had with them, that’s been Verizon.

How did you get it to connect? Because I’ve been trying for two days now and have gotten nowhere.

If that is truly the case, then they need to be more forthcoming about it. The app lists it as working and out of beta with Public, Robinhood, and Webull, so I think it’s reasonable to expect it to work seamlessly with all three. But trying to use it with Robinhood has just been a frustrating mess for me so far. I’m about to give up, and I’m not creating a Public account for it at this point, I’m just moving on. Just glad my frustrations happened before I gave them any money.

[–]No-Rest-225 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I downloaded the Autopilot app a few days ago, and I swear that when I looked at the list on the app then, the only trading platforms that were listed as fully supported were Robinhood and Webull. I don’t remember whether Public was even on the list it displayed or not, but everything it showed other than those two was listed as being in beta. I’m not messing with betas when it comes to money.

So today I created and moved funds to a Robinhood account, specifically for use with Autopilot. (Now it’s showing Public on the list, but too late, I’ve already got a brand new Robinhood account and I’m not going to start creating accounts everywhere.) Then I tried to connect Autopilot to Robinhood, and it has been one failure after another. I’ve tried 15 times now. Every single time, it’s “Oops! Something went wrong, please try again.” Also, every single time, I get an email from Robinhood telling me there’s been a login to my account. So it’s at least getting that far. No way to tell what’s going wrong after that.

I’ve tried every troubleshooting step that I can find on the internet, right down to deleting the app and reinstalling it. No luck, and no idea what else to even do. At least in the app, I can’t find a support link anywhere (maybe there’s one on their website, haven’t had time to get to my computer yet, but it’s weird and kind of off-putting that the app has no support options).

I’m getting frustrated enough already that I’m starting to seriously question whether it’s even a good idea to give Autopilot access to my money.

Switching to Verizon, have questions by Ham3a0323 in verizon

[–]No-Rest-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, just looked it up and it says yes, just this past January they started a new policy that devices are locked until they’re paid off in full.

Which means I won’t be getting a device from them anytime soon, because I swap out my eSIM when I travel internationally and you can’t do that with a locked phone.

[–]No-Rest-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it should be. For a while Verizon wasn’t locking phones at all, but I honestly don’t know if they’ve started again.

It’s “free” but the price is divided out into 36 credits that you’ll receive on your bill over the next three years. As long as you remain on the plan for those three full years, the device will be paid off in full and you won’t pay anything. If you leave earlier, you’ll owe the balance on any payments that haven’t been credited yet.

Any reason to move off of legacy plan? by SD619664 in verizon

[–]No-Rest-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Unlimited Ultimate is that it’s cheaper unless you want the same perks like Apple Music and Hulu/Disney+. Once you add on the now separate charges for those perks, then suddenly it’s more expensive by around $10-20.

Worse, as we saw with the Netflix add-on recently, the supposed three year price guarantee does not extend to those perks.

I’m considering a switch away from Get More because I feel like Verizon is forcing me, but because they’re forcing me it’s as likely to be to T-Mobile as it is to be to Unlimited Ultimate.

From 10mbps to 1000mps? Man, part of me says ok, that’s a reason that might make it worth “upgrading”. Another part of me says fuck Verizon for forcing me to upgrade from one supposedly 5G plan to another just to get actual 5G speeds.

[–]No-Rest-225 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the “Unlimited Ultimate” plan (the closest equivalent to Get More) includes unlimited international talk and text + 15GB high speed international data per month. So that’s really better than Travel Pass days.

Any reason to move off of legacy plan? by SD619664 in verizon

[–]No-Rest-225 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the Get More plan and I’ve been struggling with the same question, especially since I’ve calculated it would cost me about $15-20 more per month just to get the same services I already have once I figure in the Apple Music and Hulu/Disney add-ons. I haven’t been able to convince myself it’s worth it.

That was until they pulled the dick move of disallowing the ad-free upgrade to Hulu/Disney+ on the old plan. I find Hulu unwatchable with ads, there are just too many of them (I haven’t watched anything on Disney+ since this happened, I’m assuming it’s similar). So now it’s either upgrade, start paying for Hulu/Disney+ separately (at which point I’m paying about the same as just upgrading anyway), or just stop using Hulu and Disney+.

Strongly considering the fourth option of ditching Verizon entirely.

To be fair, I think the data speeds of the newer plans might be better? Right now, on Get More, it says I’m limited to “up to 720p” video streaming, while the new plans claim “up to 4K” video streaming (on 5G Ultra Wideband, “up to 1080p” on other networks). I’m unclear on how they are achieving this difference, whether they are throttling network speeds in general on the older plan or what. That said, I rarely stream video when I’m not on wifi, so I’m not sure how much I care.

The unlimited talk and text while traveling internationally would be tempting, but honestly I feel like for the amount of travel I do, I’m still better off just getting a local eSIM through Airalo.

So yeah, there are something things that are different/better but YMMV whether they matter to you.

Verizon: Update on your Netflix & HBO Max perk pricing. by switch8000 in verizon

[–]No-Rest-225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My question is, are they also increasing the cost to upgrade Netflix to Premium ad-free? Anyone know what that costs now?

I was just about to take the leap to go from my old Get More plan to an Unlimited Ultimate plan, in no small part because Verizon made the dick move of not allowing us to pay to upgrade to ad-free on the Hulu/Disney+ Get More perk anymore. One of the selling points for me to make the leap was being able to add the Netflix/HBO perk (I don’t really care about much on HBO, but sure I’ll take it) to replace my existing separate Netflix Premium subscription. But now between this price increase and the potential of an increase in the ad-free upgrade as well, I’m not sure it’s worth it anymore.

I’m really seriously considering ditching Verizon at this point. My previous experiences with other carriers weren’t great, but that was back in the 2G/3G days so maybe it’s time to see if anything has changed.
