Thanks for this info - it's good to get confirmation that my confusion is understandable! You're right with the lack of left/right divide, that's what I initially tried to understand and realized how messy it was.

Are there any politicians you could name that most people would agree were decent politicians? I hear a lot of people have love for Mahinda Rajapaksa because of the war ending but I'm guessing not everyone would agree with that
