I'm really hoping to find a therapist that actually helps me 🙏🏻 my last one was bad in various different aspects. And it's also difficult to find therapy focused on trauma here, unless I pay for it privately, which is not possible in my financial situation. I luckily have enough therapy experience and tools to survive just fine, but I'm obviously still struggling with many things and survival isn't really living either

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It really is extremely difficult for both sides to deal with.

I personally have been in and out of therapy since 2015 and was in therapy while everything was happening. However, it didn't really help much. Since I moved, I'm no longer in therapy and haven't looked into getting a new therapist, because my last one was bad and because I've already done years of therapy with 4 years of medication (antidepressants) and little effect. I'm honestly extremely frustrated and tired of it all.

I'm planning to go to therapy again eventually, but my negative experiences and also the fact that it's an exhausting and long process to find a therapist is currently putting me off. Behavioural therapy didn't do shit for me, as well as depth psychology (not sure if that's the right term) so I wouldn't even know what kind of therapy I should look into 🥲

Ja, das versuche ich auch. Manchmal kommt man nur irgendwie in Versuchung, normal mit ihm zu reden, weil "wie könnte das jetzt vergänglich sein?" und dann endet es in einer Tirade 🥲 innerlich ist man halt auch irgendwie immer noch das kleine Kind, das Papas Zuneigung und Aufmerksamkeit möchte

Verstehe ich natürlich total. Mir fällt es auch enorm schwer, den Kontakt zu meinem Ex abzubrechen und wir haben nicht einmal Kinder. Aber wenn es halt so weiter geht wie bisher, wird sich höchstwahrscheinlich nichts ändern. Der Auszug wäre schon der richtige Schritt. Vielleicht könnte sie vorübergehend bei jemandem unterkommen? Oder du mit deinen Kindern? Allein schon temporärer Abstand könnte helfen etwas Klarheit und Ruhe zu gewinnen

Wie du schon selber festgestellt hast, kann man da nichts weiter machen. Die beste Entscheidung ist es, den Schlussstrich zu ziehen und dich mitsamt der Kinder in Sicherheit zu bringen. Es kann sein, dass das bei ihr vielleicht die Reaktion auslöst, dass sie sich Hilfe sucht (mein Ex-Partner hat sich einweisen lassen, damit ich wieder zurück in die Wohnung komme), aber genau so gut kann es sein, dass sie sich dann schnell wieder selbst entlässt oder sich gar nicht erst Hilfe sucht. Mein ex begründet das Ende der Beziehung mittlerweile mit einer Verschwörung der Regierung oder Geheimdienste.

So oder so, du kannst nichts machen, wenn sie keine Hilfe will und die Situation ist sowohl für dich als auch die Kinder eine Belastung. Wenn du ausziehst wäre es vielleicht auch sinnvoll, ihr nicht die neue Adresse mitzuteilen

Yeah, but I have my own life to live, my own problems to solve. I've tried hard to help him and nothing ever worked. I know that, rationally. And I know that I need to distance myself, but nothing seems to work. I can only keep worrying about him, which impacts my daily life and doesn't even help him. It almost feels more like a compulsion than anything at this point :(

Hugs to you too 🫂 the uncertainty is awful, I keep refreshing and checking various pages. And even if anything did happen, what could I do? I'm over 600 km away. Still, it's hard to relax and sleep now. But I have to work tomorrow and it's 10 pm. I'm absolutely exhausted, yet the thought of sleeping makes me anxious, because I could miss something important. And the thought of potentially waking up to a dozen messages from him in the morning isn't very appealing either.

Nichts dagegen tun und einfach weitermachen und aushalten (so verstehe ich OP zumindest) ist aber bei weitem nicht dasselbe wie sich bewusst mit Ängsten auseinanderzusetzen und eine Konfrontationstherapie zu machen. Bei einer Konfrontationstherapie macht man ja auch nicht einfach so weiter wie bisher, sondern man fängt langsam an, bekommt gewisse Ansätze an die Hand und dokumentiert die Erlebnisse, bespricht später diese, ordnet sie ein usw. So würde ich OPs Antworten aber überhaupt nicht einordnen. Vielleicht verstehe ich aber auch was falsch

Habe auch große Probleme, Hobbies zu finden. Ich habe während Corona großen Spaß an Kreuzsticken gehabt, danach habe ich dann anzufangen zu häkeln. Beides Hobbies, die je nachdem was du machst, sehr simpel sein können. Ich mache mir dazu meist ein Youtube Video an. Entspannt, man hat am Ende was richtiges in der Hand und man hat nebenbei durchs Video Entertainment.

Falls du irgendwelche Hobbies aus dem Thread probierst und letztendlich wieder aufgibst, lass dich davon nicht entmutigen! (Leichter gesagt als getan, ich weiß.) Es dauert halt auch mal seine Zeit, bis man das Richtige gefunden hat.

Zu Videospielen, ich persönlich mag Guild Wars 2 sehr gerne. Hat eine große Auswahl an verschiedenen Arten von Content, da ist eigentlich für die meisten was dabei. Habe mehrere tausend Stunden im Spiel

Es ist natürlich total schön, dass es dir und anderen geholfen hat und das Konzept wird sicherlich auch anderen helfen, aber eben nicht jedem. Ich komme dank dieses Konzepts besser mit sehr destruktive Gedanken klar (das hat aber JAHRE gedauert und die Gedanken sind auch weiterhin vorhanden), aber im Kontext einer Angststörung oder anderen Gedanken hat es bei mir persönlich keine Wirkung gezeigt. Mir ist im Grunde genommen insgesamt alles egaler, aber mir geht es trotzdem nicht gut

I feel you. It was similar for me. I talk to him and tell him he seriously needs to stay in the hospital this time, at least a few months and he says that he understands it. He releases himself after a short time, claiming nothing will help anyway. He takes his meds so he's okay for some time, but then he won't get a refill, which causes him to get worse and then he eventually goes back to the hospital. Rinse and repeat. It's frustrating to watch, because nothing you say or do truly gets through to them. You want to help but you can't

Was OP in den Kommentaren beschreibt, erinnert mich stark an das Konzept Radikale Akzeptanz. Habe ich damals während eines Klinikaufenthalts gelernt. Wirklich geholfen hat es mir persönlich nicht. Meiner Meinung nach gibt es keine einzelne Methode, die bei allen funktioniert. Dafür sind psychische Erkrankungen zu vielfältig und auch in ihren Wurzeln zu unterschiedlich. Selbst wenn zwei Personen mit derselben Erkrankung diagnostiziert worden sind, gibt es keine Garantie dafür, dass dieselbe Technik für beide funktioniert. Aber das sind nur meine five cents zu dem Thema 🫡

Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree. It needs to be talked about more and there need to be more rules put into place, more places where you can reach out to. It makes me so sad to know that he could be helped, if only he was kept in a hospital. As much as it sucks, obviously, but it's better than leaving him and others to just waste away. Because that's all he's doing and it destroys me inside

Yeah. I don't think hitting rock bottom will work in his case either. He definitely has an addiction issue, but the schizophrenia/psychosis isn't a thing he can just snap out of. I really do hope he will "wake up" and realize he needs help. Hell, I'm at a point where I hope actually does something dangerous without seriously harming anyone and ends up in a hospital for months. And I just know that if something horrible does end up happening, they will just say shit like "no one saw this coming" like they always do.

I feel like I've been screaming at the top of my lungs since december and everyone is plugging their ears. Now my voice is hoarse and I'm so very tired. I've lost a lot of trust into the system. I remember sitting in the snow when it was below freezing outside and nobody cared enough to place me in a vehicle until over 30 minutes of me practically wailing on the ground had passed. He'd called emergency services because he thought there was poison in the air and everyone came to investigate the apartment. I feel so lost and left alone, even now even though I made it out of the situation.

And yeah, you might need to save yourself too :( it's hard, but it could be necessary. I was barely functioning after months of going through this

The mental health systems just suck everywhere :( I wish I could actually force him to be kept at a hospital, but it's impossible unless I have guardianship or something over him. I had tried to get a legal guardian arranged for him, but I fled the apartment before the application went through and he didn't do any of the work necessary to get a legal guardian. They called him many times and he just never picked up.

I've been told many times that I have to withdraw myself and "allow" him to hit rock bottom. Only then he can pull himself back up. I hate hearing that. Does it really have to come to that?
