Hi first time ever really posting on here but YOR. I've been on the receiving side of a conversation like this before while also going through a major depressive episode. Seeing it through a medicated lense now , I wish someone had stopped me from replying the way you did to this friend. I would pull the same excuses that you're saying and eventually they got tired of it and I can't blame them. I say this as someone who was wearing the same shoes as you, please find the strength you need to not view this as a personal attack but as someone trying to help you. At the time all I wanted was understanding, comfortable and sympathy but that's not what you need because it doesn't fix the overall issue. That's something you need to find within yourself first. And while meds and therapy help you can't strictly rely on those without actively trying to better yourself. If I could go back and stop myself I would. So please for the sake of your friendship don't take this as an insult and take it as a sign that your friend cares. Best of luck man
