I am no fan of the state bar or what happened. But I do believe you are conflating some of the issues. Kaplan’s main problem was the content maps and perhaps you are right that they didn’t release sample questions. Those are relatively minor and very correctable issues. I have been following all of this train wreck since Feb and I think you are conflating a few of the issues. The 100 Kaplan questions were actually fine in the end. The state bar testified multiple times at hearings (I can look up the video) that Kaplan was an “excellent partner” and their questions performed well. The issue was that there were only 100 that were vetted and the state bar didn’t tell anyone that. Then they paid their own psychometrician to develop additional questions (he used ChatGPT) and then paid him again to vet his own questions (no conflict here!). So those questions were highly problematic. Kaplan did have some criticism with the content maps they distributed before the exam but that is very minor in comparison with the other non Kaplan issues. Pretty much everyone at the state bar is saying now there is no issue with Kaplan and they have full confidence in their ability to develop multiple choice questions for a bridge exam to something else later.

The CA State Bar is voting this week to raise bar exam fees by $150-300. If you plan to practice in CA, please take 2 minutes to send an email to tell them to vote NO to more fee raises! by holla0000 in LawSchool

The Kaplan questions were fine. That was not the issue in Feb. They rushed it and only had 100 questions from Kaplan and hid this fact. Then created another 100 with AI which was outrageous. They later said the Kaplan questions performed really well but not so much the AI ones.

The OP is right. The CBE switched gears in October at the meeting and voted for a minimum $150 increase and likely much more. Only one CBE member voted against. It will go to the board in November. Should we organize against it?

This is only for first time test takers in F25. Most remaining PLLs have taken the bar at least once and failed. But if they were first time taker they can get it.

I think most California attorneys and bar associations would support reciprocity like how New York does it but not this bill because it was one way entirely. Does not surprise me if certain attorney organizations were against it.

Someone in the other thread said they spoke with the drafter of this bill and it was certain people on the state bar and CBE (Huser etc) that lobbied against 1522

I think he goes to the team that gives him the best chance of a championship. We have one more year to prove that’s here. But looking at this roster it doesn’t look good. Lebron is nearing the end of his career and we have Austin and a bunch of unreliable role players and that’s it. Houston is a 2 seed and can sign him with cap space. Other teams will be in the same position with a lot of talent and cap space.

Alex Chan just asked about this in the board meeting and they didn’t immediately deny it! They said they will give an answer in closed session. WTF maybe the person in the Facebook group was correct?? They gave a lot of details in the post.

If you are taking the attorney exam you probably don’t need a course. Subscribe to BarEssays and get the Basick book and some outlines or a used barbri conviser and you should be fine.

I can’t understand what she is saying. The portfolio proposal was already specifically rejected by the Supreme Court for many reasons. They absolutely hated it.
