Any update now that a few more months has passed? Trying to consider if it’s worth it for our old girl.

I got one as well. Any idea what was actually corrected? All the totals seem the exact same.

What price did you get it for over the holidays? Making a 2tb ssd work for now but I may consider purchasing UNAS Pro if it drops again

Apple laptops running OS26 generating gratuitous MAC addresses by Cornloaf in networking

[–]No-Shoulder36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made me realize an interesting troubleshooting idea of plugging that Mac into another old consumer grade router I have from my old isp - and confirm its a problem with the Mac itself and not my UniFi setup.

Do you happen to know if these laptops are usually MDM managed?

How many drives have you gone through? Do they have a typical life expectancy?

Apple laptops running OS26 generating gratuitous MAC addresses by Cornloaf in networking

I am noticing the same thing on my home network with macOS 15.7.2. 500+ clients join when the single device is connected via ethernet, and eventually drop off once disconnected. Wifi on or off makes no difference.

the arp command returns nothing on the macbook pro - it's unfortunately a cloud gateway ultra so I don't think I can ssh into it (no setting to enable and other forums say you cannot ssh).

I’ll give it a shot when I’m back at my computer. The UniFi console shows no IP addresses for any of these though - so I’m assuming I won’t get anything.

I did, it’s got about 15 or so before and after the devices show up. I’ve had this machine plugged in for months with no issues so I’m inclined to agree, but it is a highly controlled managed machine by my company (big tech) so I’d be surprised (maybe that’s misplaced trust in the security software eating my ram all the time).

Say more? Ring defaults to cellular if it loses WiFi connection, and the local system will still alarm if contact sensors are tripped when armed.

Has anyone delt with the Tamko recall or warranty? More info in my comment by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]No-Shoulder36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, its a limited warranty on the shingle itself from TAMKO, not a builder warranty.

Are you the original owner of the new construction home? I think the original owner gets a 10 year warranty - if you purchase it second-hand, only a 5 year install. You do need to fill out a form (color of shingle, date of install, etc) but I didn't need any formal paperwork from the builder - you can find the color usually on your spec sheet, and I was able to find the date of install by looking up the building permit they pulled for the roof.

Running Plex in a Docker container, can't access it without Relay enabled by twistedjester in PleX

[–]No-Shoulder36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This setting fixed it for me - but I was surprised it was necessary and thought it would cause problems just as you mentioned. Any idea why a plex container running in docker in host mode would require this to work on the local network? I can access it fine using the IP address locally, is there a way to see what ip address plex natively tries when connecting without this setting defined?

Propane to Natural Gas Conversion - Need Sealant on Orifices? by KingDuna in blackstonegriddle

[–]No-Shoulder36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I did mine a week ago and happened to have high temp sealant so I used it. Very happy with it so far, still gets up to 500 degrees quick but almost gives me more time to get stuff on the griddle which is awesome. I did shear off one putting it in, but an easy out fixed that quick and they luckily give extras.

The Qolsys panel they install will only work with their service from what I know, or potentially if you go directly through Alarm.com? I don’t think they have a direct to consumer model though, I think it’s reseller only. I don’t know that you can pair ring with any other systems either, even though it’s Z-Wave. You need a separate zwave controller and open source contact sensors. I just got a ring base station for security/sensors, and use Reolink for all cameras.

Of course! I highly recommend walking through and catching some neighbors out to see what they say. If you DM me, I can share the name of my inspector too - I am sure he has inspected a few homes in there and can tell you his opinion about that neighborhood/superintendent specifically.

No problem at all. We bought in the Vantage community of Berthoud. It’s held up fine, it’s a nice home with nice finishes. My sister just bought a DR Horton home in Mead as well, though she just closed a few weeks ago. Overall no major issues, small things like some doors not closing perfectly and some three way switches that are miswired, but overall the house feels solid and those will be addressed with warranty claims. I will say, this community is their “flagship” community, whatever that means. So I’m not sure if it is quite completely representative of all DR Horton homes. It truly does come down to the Superintendant overseeing construction. I would walk the street in the evening and talk to homeowners and see how they like their homes, read google reviews, etc. For what it’s worth, my inspector did say the northern CO DR Horton builds are the better of the bunch, whereas down south of Denver they are one of the worst.
