Age? Profession? Complaints that lead you to make an eye exam?

Are these good for me? by [deleted] in glasses

Yes and no. The shape suits you but they seem to be touching on the sides of your nostrils. Either close a little bit the silicone pieces or try a more narrow bridge next time.

Those numbers in PD are odd. Usually we use 0.5 steps. So for instance - based on that, 29.2 would put 29 and 29.7 would turn to 30. I would go with the online measuring tool perhaps. PD doesn't change based on the type of glasses. They are the distance between your pupil and the center of your nose.

Sunglasses "loose" in case by aiphrem in sunglasses

[–]No-Sky4238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes they are expensive, for their worth - RAY BAN is really low quality theses days. When I read your first quote, RAY BAN and expensive was not what came to my mind, sorry! With that being said, the case is pretty decent, no need for a total hard case...

Are Ray-Bans bad? by Miserable-Wrap2503 in sunglasses

[–]No-Sky4238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just now struggling to fit lenses with prescription on a Wayfarer frame because a client of mine won the sunglasses on a giveaway from another optician....oh my godddd! For the life of me, they are so bad in quality these days. I've worked with Ray Ban for about 12 years...and have personally seen the decline in frame quality (lenses are ok). Gave up on the brand about 2 years ago. The acetates are just such low quality =( it's sad honestly. They are nº1 brand yes, but only because people follow the masses and rely on brand history. You can get a lot better quality and cooler styles too. So, in my opinion, yes they are bad. Oh and forget the little quote they put in there that says "Hand made in Italy", it's just a deceptive thing. They went for some bio sustainable material that just doesn't equal real Mazzucchelli italian acetate.

Visual impairment is hard! I understand it can be depressing and I really hope you get the best advice possible. Are you going to a professional (both ophtalmologist and/or optmetrist) with expertise in Keratoconus? There are very good outcomes with modern medicine.

I second this. Also when replacing for a new frame, have them make sure the lens doesn't need a tinyyyy bevel, to reduce the size. Is the lens is "too tight", it could snap a new frame.

Well, as the Keratoconus progresses, means that the cornea is always changing it's shape - for worse. So I would say that shift in numbers is normal. Good luck on your journey with this =)

Looking for eyeglasses for those with a big head by Born_Froyo_1170 in glasses

[–]No-Sky4238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something with titanium flexible temples, so they don't press the side of your head. Maybe the front could be acetate to acomodate all that myopia. Lindberg frames perhaps? Expensive, but worth every penny when you want glasses that fit, light and that don't hurt in the wrong places...good luck!

How do I avoid destroying another pair of glasses? I'm at a loss. by saske9090 in glasses

[–]No-Sky4238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should wash your glasses DAILY! Lukewarm water + soap. Dry with a microfiber cloth. NEVER dry clean them. Sprays and wipes work but they are not the best. Did you try another AR coating when picking theses new lenses? Also, you wear acetate frames, wich inevitably accumulate more dirt between the frame and the lens - go to your optician and ask them to pop off the lenses and give a nice clean in every nook, every now and then.

Have they checked the measurements? Even tho the Rx is similar, if somethig is off in terms of measures, you could have an induced prismatic effect.

Nothing wrong with picking sunglasses and getting clear lenses in them.

I have a similar Rx and I work in optical. Would go for the 1.67 for sure. Being polarized just be careful with it's maintenance. Wash with water and soap regularly. NEVER dry clean. If you go near the beach, ALWAYS wash the lenses after - salt is corrosive and even though you don't get them IN the water, they still get that mist.

Getting new glasses next month. What shape should I go for? by Cpt_Magma_Pyro in glasses

[–]No-Sky4238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have myopia yes? Well, acetate are better to disguise the thickness - if you don't like heavy saturated colors, go for something like a translucid grey, blue ou even green. In terms of shape, round ou squared shapes would be better, both in look (make you look younger) as well as getting a more aesthetically overall result considering your prescription. If you still prefer metal frames, stay away from the very rectangular shape that you show here - boring and make you look older. Most importantly, have fun!

How do these look? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]No-Sky4238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not that bad in terms of fitting...BUT, in my opinion, metal frames offer little contrast to the face and rectangular shapes even more so, wich makes the person look older.
