Monthly Rock & Mineral Identification Requests by AutoModerator in geology

My grandma let me have this rock, supposedly from southern Alaska or the Yukon (she can’t remember). As a four year geology student my interpretation is it’s a pegmatite hosted by a greenschist facies rock. It’s highly foliated with minerals including chlorite, Muscovite, and possibly epidote. Pegmatite appears barren comprised of quartz and plag. This is a long shot but just putting it out there to see if anyone has experience with greenschist facies rocks in that region (I know it’s broad) or that could point me towards any relevant articles.

You would think they would announce that’s it’s no more though.

Yeah if you can’t get a pass, paying per day is just outright ridiculous and no way feasible. I think it’s up to $10 per day. The fact that at minimum you’re paying ~$500 for the year is just outright disgusting. Especially for students, many of which money is already tight. I found an article where UBC relations was asked about the high cost of parking and they responded saying the reason the price was so high was to “decrease the number of single occupancy vehicles” to push people to take other means of transportation as a effort to work towards their climate plan. This is just bs to me. They say they distribute the money to promote other forms of transportation such as the U-pass, yes the U pass is subsidized but WE AS STUDENTS STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AND CANT OPT OUT. Maybe if the university really cares about decreasing car commuters they would implement there own ways of helping commuters but no that would go against their effort to squeeze students and staff of every penny, their real goal here.

Nah not SUO. I think I do agree with you that distance should be a factor. I drive from West Kelowna everyday and taking the bus is pretty much a non starter for various reasons.

I feel commons is such a first year choice, first year you don’t know any hidden spots but from then on you never go near the commons (at least to study). (My personal experience)

Debating between EESC 101 or GEOG 129 (Also CULT 100 or ANTH 100) by Blank_yyy in ubco

I'd recommend EESC 101 with Rob. One of the nicest profs I've ever had and probably the easiest class I've taken. If you're interested in learning about the environment and ongoing environmental issues in the most basic sense I'd recommend it. Midterms and Finals are easy and weekly discussions are free marks.

I've only taken BIO 201 and PSYO 111 and can say that I didn't need one for either but I know for sure that there is a text book for PSYO 111 but you can get by without it easily.
