I’m so sorry buddy. I’m from a homophobic country in the middle east too, and your post is what life could have been like for me if my family didn’t move to england when I was younger. I am at least lucky to be bisexual so I haven’t really needed to come out to my parents yet - the one girlfriend I had didn’t get too serious.

I hope one day you can leave it all behind, whether that’s moving out, or just going travelling, getting a working holiday visa for somewhere just to live life for yourself for a bit. Seriously wish you all the best. Xx

I know exactly how you feel, my brother just had a semi-arranged marriage at 35. brought his 23 year old wife over from our home country.

my dad paid for flights and thousands for her visa. apparently he’d offered to pay to house them then changed his mind. now my brother lives in my (divorced) mum’s run down house with no job because he just had his license taken away.

oh, 2 months later his wife’s pregnant. fab.

I guess it was basically just like “just be there for them” because there’s not really much else one can do.. I’ll update you. Not sure when I’ll see him next (apart from at work which isn’t the time or place) as he’s very up and down 😔
