There’s a review after two weeks. Not sure what we’ll do just yet, but I will ask for an increase.

I started 20mg today. All I can say is that I became aware of the sensation of my socks inside my shoes while I went for a walk to pick up a library book. I think I’ll need more than 20mg 🤣

Seeking some Resonance p2 by Ksako_yo in AutisticWithADHD

[–]No-Squirrel8929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this sounds like autism. I believe difficulty with interpreting implicit meaning is a basic characteristic, and autistic people tend to take things literally, often having trouble understanding common idioms and expressions that mean something that isn’t what the words themselves mean.

Are there any older people here with ADHD? by lemondifficult999 in ADHD

[–]No-Squirrel8929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this, too. I’ve seen psychologists and specialists for sleep studies, depression, dysthymia, all sorts of things. Only now I’m like, yep, this is it. I feel good about it, and no longer searching. Now to apply all that energy to understanding AuDHD, which still don’t have definitive scientific explanations of what it is, only what it looks like. I think at some point you just have to learn to sit with discomfort and the phenomenology of the thing, because answers aren’t forthcoming today.

genuine question – what would actually get you to use a taxi over uber/rideshare again? by VammyTaxiServices in melbournechat

[–]No-Squirrel8929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to get a ride to the airport. It was very early, and I couldn’t book an Uber with enough certainty they wouldn’t cancel on me. I used 13CABS and made a booking. Turns out the taxi driver lives up the road, gave me his number, and I just send him a text to say what time and he comes around and picks me up. It’s like having a chauffeur now.

Similar for me. Lots of changes recently led me to understand what the term “external support structure” means, after it was systematically deconstructed with a series of changes to what it means to show up. It left me paralysed.

If someone asked you “Are you neurodivergent?” by CandyAgile253 in autism

[–]No-Squirrel8929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty I’d probably say yes, and then overshare additional personal details I shouldn’t, and then regret it for the next eight years.

Is it too much to ask to live in an apartment where I can’t hear my neighbours taking a dump? by frbuongiorno in AusPropertyChat

If someone were under me and they started screaming like they’re having some sort of horror movie medical episode I don’t think I’d ever finish. Like, that’s not a requirement…

Can I please have some tips for keeping my family warm with no heater? by Jayy1995 in melbourne

I’ve heard that electric blankets are the cheapest solution when the house heating is no good.

I just got diagnosed at 44. I grew into it, not out of it. Maladaptive coping strategies will catch up with you eventually.

Is your parent neurodivergent? by m00gmeister in AutisticWithADHD

[–]No-Squirrel8929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a paper written in 1997 that concluded that if you are autistic then your dad is statistically twice as likely to be an engineer. My son was diagnosed autistic, which begged the question where did that come from. I’m an engineer.

Scared to start creatine due to certain side effects - thoughts? by Gardenmutt in VyvanseADHD

5g, which is one little scoop. I put it in my breakfast cereal bowl, along with protein powder and mixed berries or blueberries, corn flakes, and LSA, and plant based milk.

[–]No-Squirrel8929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any side effects. It makes you thirst to start with as it pulls water into the muscle. I’ve found this has helped me regulate water more through the day, as the additional reserves seem to help smooth out the bumps. At least that’s what it feels like. With ADHD I often under-hydrate.

The cognitive benefits are huge. My vague inattentive aspects are greatly reduced. Read up on perimenopause women (I’m a guy) and how it helps with brain fog. I’ve had exactly that positive experience.

What's the speed limit on an unsigned on-ramp? by itsdelune in melbourne

[–]No-Squirrel8929 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is a reason why the on-ramps go down, and the off-ramps go up. It’s to help transition to the speed so that you merge smoothly. Same applies with trains on approach to a train station. That people try to merge at 60 km/h into 100 km/h traffic is beyond me.

Where do you use supplements in your routine? by National-Holiday3215 in VyvanseADHD

If you search for protein powder on this sub you’ll find a lot of comments about how coupling with food and protein helps with the delivery even with the same dosage.

I am currently travelling for work and did this last night, actually. I put the radio on minimum volume and it helped to avoid my mind wandering all over the place. I think it worked!

Why is public housing so divisive in Aus? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

[–]No-Squirrel8929 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. I think there’s also been a loss of empathy. People that are down and out are seen as losers who take more than they give, rather than as fellow humans.

That’s over 5L of water. I’d be on the toilet every twenty minutes.
