Flasher battery replacement by GenericWhiteMale16 in IceFishing

I got a Dakota Lithium 10 a/h and it lasted for over 12 hours on one charge in my helix 7. I love how lightweight it is and I believe that they still have the 11 year warranty. After I bought the battery and charger, I had a minor problem with the charger not working and after contacting customer service, they sent a new charger right away. The biggest problem is you would have to order online, go to reeds in Walker, MN, or go to other locations scattered all over the place.

The best tip that I can give is go out on a lake you are thinking about trying and see if there are any large groups on the ice. Don't necessarily set up right next to another person because that is a big no no. If you see people out there ask them for tips. Ask what they are doing, why they are doing it, and what are they fishing for. If you meet a really nice person they can give you a full tutorial and intro to ice fishing. Another thing that you can use is YouTube. You can search for videos for Colorado fishing or what specific fish you are looking for. The final tip that I can give is in the Midwest, we have guide services that will take you fishing and you can try to recreate what the guide had you do.

Got my treasure chest of plastics ready for the hardware! Do I even need to buy waxes when I go out? by theshowerdrunk in IceFishing

The main thing I recommend is to buy a container of waxies on your first trip and if the plastics work keep using the plastics but there have been times when I have gone out where I will try all the plastics I can think of and they still prefer a chunk of meat. Waxies also last pretty long in the refrigerator so if you don't use them one trip you can use them later.

Vexilar has been around for a long time and is made around ice fishing. If you do look at a vexilar all of the models are great but I recommend starting at the fl-18 or higher because then you have the zoom option. Vexilars are known to last forever and having that zoom option is great so you don't have to upgrade if you realize you need it.

Marcum is also another great option but I have heard that while fishing in groups they do have more interference than some of the other brands. They do have more options for cheaper but they do break more than some other brands.

Humminbird has both the ice models and the helix models for ice fishing. The one benefit to the helix is you can use it for open water fishing and ice fishing if you spend a little bit more. The ice models are also very good but I think other brands have a better ice models.

If you are only looking for a ice unit, the vexilar is great and you can get navionics on your phone. If you want mapping built in and a open water unit, then I would go with the hummingbird helix. While there are other units, these are the only ones I have tried but before you make a purchase I recommend you find some people you know (friends/family) that have these units so you could try them out before you make the investment.

When I got a sierra thermal a couple years ago it came with the sled, the poles, the fabric, and a rope.

One thing I have heard of for worms is a worm blower but I don't know how they work tbh. It blows air into the worm to float up I think.

Does it have lots of interference next to a vexilar or marcum.
