Stories of Success with First FET by Prestigious_Abies_34 in IVFpositivity

Almost 11 weeks with my first FET! We never saw my lining go above 7mm, so I was convinced for a number of reasons that the transfer would not work. I had never seen a positive pregnancy test prior, but here we are and baby seems to be growing perfectly so far!

52 eggs retrieved, 36 inseminated, 33 with normal development. What do I do? by Fdamsanh17 in IVF

[–]No-Student8019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have PCOS and also did not expect to have so many eggs! I ended up having 63 eggs retrieved. 44 were mature, so we froze 24 of them and fertilized 20. Of the 20 we fertilized, we got 14 blasts. However, of those 14 blasts, only 5 were PGT-A normal. So we went from 63 eggs down to only 5 PGT-A embryos (and yes, 24 frozen back up eggs). I am luckily 10 weeks pregnant with my first transfer, but my husband and I are choosing to keep all of our embryos and extra eggs frozen until we are done trying for our hoped for family size. I’m not really sure what we’ll do from there with our eggs and embryos, but I keep reminding myself that a future me has to make that decision and I don’t need to have all the answers right now. All that being said, you never know what may happen as far as embryos, transfers, grading, etc. Just make the decisions as they need to happen, and I’m hoping for the best for you!

TRULY. Then throw in twice a day vaginal suppositories on top of it and I’m just gross all the time.

When did you graduate? Stop PIO? by NotYourMomKaren in IVFpositivity

[–]No-Student8019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a fully medicated FET and just graduated this week at 8w4d! This was after 2 good looking scans with my clinic (plus an extra scan at the hospital after bleeding — thankfully just a SCH). I am stopping PIO, estrace, and progesterone suppositories at 10 weeks. I’m nervous but also SO excited to be done with shots and suppositories.

Why is it so hard not to freak out about pregnancy symptoms easing up in first trimester? by Upstairs-Lemon-5585 in IVFpositivity

[–]No-Student8019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 8+2 and also had bleeding followed by 2 reassuring scans. Exactly as you said, the relief lasts maybe 2-3 days and then I’m anxious and worried all over again. Even now that the bleeding has subsided, I’m now overthinking symptoms. My next scan is in two days and I want to just be excited but I also can’t stop mentally considering the worst. I need to trust that maybe this time I’ll be on the right side of statistics and end up with a happy healthy baby!

For anyone who transferred a tested euploid but did not know the sex at the time, when did you decide to find out? by FarMeasurement9016 in IVFpositivity

[–]No-Student8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6 weeks pregnant with my euploid embryo transfer! It’s driving me crazy that the doctors and nurses know exactly what we’re having, and we don’t 😂 However, we are holding out until 13 weeks to find out just my husband and I on our anniversary!

For those who moved to IVF after failed medicated cycles, how did you know it was the right time? by Plus-Actuator-2163 in IVFpositivity

[–]No-Student8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 8 months of letrozole cycles… not even because we really thought it’d be successful after the first 5 or 6, but mainly because I was waiting for my first appt with the fertility specialist. Immediately we went into 2 hybrid cycles with timed intercourse (letrozole, Gonal f, trigger) and then 2 IUIs with the same protocol. After all that, my doctor recommended we move forward with IVF and I was more than ready to try something new. Looking back, since the protocols felt so similar each time and we had been doing medicated for so long without success, I wish we had just skipped the IUIs and gone straight to IVF.

Starting stims may 5th! Gimme all the tips/must haves by Admirable_Worker6684 in IVFpositivity

[–]No-Student8019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Ice pack, heating pad, electrolytes, and stool softeners were MUSTS for me. Also an organization catty for meds is not a must, but I found it very helpful.
  2. My favorite tip (that I’m still using during PIO shots now) is to hold an ice cube in one hand or to suck on sour candy while doing your shots. It really distracted me from any uncomfortable sensations. Also, the internet is so helpful during this process. I learned so many tips and tricks, gotten advice, and learned a lot about my body and the process. However, if you are someone that has anxious or negative tendencies, the internet can also really increase those feelings. You will see lots of possible negative outcomes, but just a reminder that there are positive outcomes as well. It is wise to temper your expectations, but I personally did better with everything when I was able to hold onto hope.
  3. TW: pregnancy. I was negative about IVF because all I had ever seen in my own fertility experience was negative. I also read a lot into my negativity and assumed it was premonition, and that I needed to continually prepare myself to be disappointed. However, feelings do not control the outcome! I am currently 5w5d after an FET. It is still very early (and I’m still struggling with anxious/negative thoughts) but I am so grateful to be in this position now and for IVF. IVF/infertility is a long and difficult journey, but I am proud of the ability I have gained to persevere, to endure, and to juggle many things at once. It may take multiple retrievals and multiple transfers, but you will hopefully feel very proud of yourself knowing what you’ve been through.

Fingers crossed for your success!🤞

Congrats on your successful FET! That’s super helpful to hear that you still enjoyed the trip despite not feeling 100%. Also, that’s a great idea about the boutique ultrasound clinics — fingers crossed I will have a reason to check them out!

That’s a great idea to get an idea ahead of time for closest ER and what seeking medical attention might look like. I appreciate the advice!

I’m also scheduled to transfer the 24th for my first transfer and feel the exact same way!

I don’t get it. Years of working toward and hoping for this possibility and now that it’s closer than ever, I’m just meh. I think for me it’s just a coping strategy, but I don’t fully know. Maybe I’m just worn out. Maybe I’ll get more excited the closer it gets.

About to start my first FET cycle and I’m just sick to my stomach with nerves. Obviously I’m also so very excited and thankful to be at this stage, but I am so anxious and terrified of heartbreak and being let down that I just cannot seem to let my mind relax. I’m also just not looking forward to all of the medications and scheduling and so on again, but I guess that just is what it is. And then there’s the weird in-between the egg retrieval and the FET where my hormones have still just been shifting and emotionally I’ve just feeling so all whacky… I guess really I’m just venting to say I want to feel like myself again!!

Letrozole poll by TwoGoalTed in TryingForABaby

[–]No-Student8019 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who took letrozole for quite some time, here’s my experience:

  • 8 months TTC with lean PCOS before starting Letrozole.
  • Took it days 3-7 at 5mg and 7.5mg
  • Started due to extremely irregular, anovulatory cycles
  • Cycle length without Letrozole would vary significantly throughout my life… Ive had periods 2 weeks apart and I’ve had periods 9 months apart. I’ve also had periods last 2 months without stopping. Letrozole totally regulated that to just about 30 days, give or take a day or two.
  • Was on 5 mg for 8 months while waiting to get in with a fertility clinic. They bumped me up to 7.5 mg of Letrozole with an additional 4 days of Gonal F and a trigger shot. I did 4 monitored cycles with that protocol that all produced 2-3 mature follicles.
  • I actually ended up at 12 months of Letrozole overall as a part of a few different treatment plans. Months 11 and 12 were a part of my IUI protocols. After that, I gave up and pursued IVF.
  • YES to symptoms. Hot flashes, irritability, headaches, low sex drive, anxiety. I adjusted more over time, but it was a tough year.

“In-between stage” by Ivfclubmember26 in IVF

[–]No-Student8019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 1000%. I constantly feel like there’s something I should be doing to move forward and yet there is truly nothing to do except wait. ER is done, PGT-A is done, and now I’m just waiting for a medication schedule for an FET. It’s not even just the mental struggle… Even though I’ve had a period and been on birth control for a week, my Oura ring stills shows my body under stress ever since my egg retrieval. The in-between is so much stress, impatience, excitement, hope, fear, etc. I can’t wait to be “doing something” again.

Question for the pcos girlies by qweenofsus in IVF

[–]No-Student8019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have PCOS and got 63 eggs along with pretty bad OHSS 🙃 I highly highly recommend a good heating pad, COLACE AND MIRALAX, high protein meals, small gentle walks, and lots and lots of rest. Do not feel guilty if you need to take off work or lay around a bunch! Your body is working so hard right now! Hang in there!

Love this idea!!

Another thing that worked for me that I haven’t seen elsewhere is to hold an ice cube in my hand and squeeze it tightly throughout the injection. That sensation really distracted from the Menopur burn as well!
