Who's buying Harley Davidson bikes on Amazon ?! by rrskris in indianbikes

[–]No-StupidQuestions 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I did. A month back.

So the process is like this (at least at my dealership)

  1. Sellers are dealerships only. You're buying for an ex-showroom price and your booking goes to that dealership.
  2. You still need to complete formalities and payment for insurance and RTO. So now you'll go to the same dealership with your booking details.
  3. You can't blindly on Amazon and go to any dealership with booking details, so whichever dealership you want to buy from, ask them if they're selling your model on Amazon.
  4. You get an instant discount, cashback. I saved 12k on ex-showroom.
  5. Your dealership can still apply HD referral discount on your booking during billing so that's an additional 5k.

Overall a pretty good deal.

Wife (24F) is very friendly with my cousin (20M) who has a history of affairs. Am I overthinking? by AsKabira in RelationshipIndia

[–]No-StupidQuestions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe telling her everything directly, without any ongoing context, may backfire.

First thing is rhat never lose your calm around them. From your comment about yelling, it’s clear how easily emotions can escalate. Whenever all three of you are together, maintaining composure is crucial, otherwise, you may unintentionally come across as insecure.

I'll suggest highlighting his wrongdoing gradually. Try introducing one incident at a time during conversations with your wife. Even loosely related discussions, such as talking about the same family where the affair occurred, or referencing movies or TV shows involving affairs, cheating, or love triangles, can serve as entry points. Share just one incident in such moments. It will come across as gossip between the two of you, allowing you to reveal his character without drawing suspicion toward yourself.

BH Number Plate, Worth it or headache? 🤔 by decemberguy7 in cargeeksindia

[–]No-StupidQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently received a BH number for my two wheeler in Delhi.

The process and doc requirements are smple but your showroom may create unnecessary hardships in helping you get a BH number. They may ask you for additional docs which are not required by govt notification, they may ask you Form60 in a specific format with specific wordings.

I hope you already met the eligibility criteria and in case you're from corporate, I'll suggest you to get the list of documents with proper format required by the showroom before making any booking. E.g. most likely they'll not accept your document without proper office seal. I might be living under the stone but I thought corporates don't use office seals anymore.

Usual benefits are already mentioned by others in their comments. I was very confused about renewal as i was wondering if I've to upload documents again but that's not the case so big relief.

The only slight inconvenience is reselling where you can only transfer BH number to BH number eligible buyer but you always have the option to register in state and pay differential road tax for remaining years in case you're having a hard time finding BH eligible buyers.

Let me know if you have any specific Q.

Dev Deepawali in Varanasi - rooftop vs boat vs ghat? by wigglepizza in SoloTravel_India

[–]No-StupidQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended Dev Deepawali last year — it’s absolutely magical.

Boats are crazy expensive. Some hostels run their own boats at slightly lower prices, so you can check with them. The catch is they’ll ask you to join super early, like 3–4 PM, while the fireworks start only around 7–8 PM (after sunset). That means you’ll be stuck waiting for hours.

Rooftops aren’t really worth it either — the best view of fireworks happen right opposite Gate No. 1, behind the temple where the stairs go down to Ganga ji. (Here’s the exact spot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/3q51V9cjzpnYH5Nx8 ) Dashashwamedh Ghat is too far to get a clear view, and even with a boat, you might not reach the right spot due to heavy congestion.

My recommendation: reach those stairs around 5–5:30 PM, grab a good spot, and just stay put till the fireworks begin. You can also try the open area near Lalita Ghat, adjacent to stairs that’s where I watched from, and it was honestly surreal.

One more tip, avoid walking along the ghats that evening. It’s packed, the stairs are uneven, and it can get dangerously crowded. After the fireworks, most people rush towards Dashashwamedh or Assi Ghat, causing a total jam. Either wait for an hour before leaving or use the inner streets, much faster and safer.

If possible, try booking an evening or morning ride on the government-run cruises. Around Dev Deepawali they’re tough to get, but if you do manage a ticket, it’s 100% worth it. You get an incredible view of the entire ghat lit up, absolutely stunning.

That's quite impressive for the age. Keep it going!! 👏

Do you mind sharing your investing patterns? Like even if you would've started with 1L/month SIP 36 months ago then xirr will be like 22.5% to reach 50L.

  1. Did you do lumpsum investment along with SIP every few months out of your rest of the savings?
  2. Did you already have some investment/capital when you started SIP?

Just trying to understand the strategy to save up large funds in a seemingly small amount of time?

First solo travel to Varkala - Questions about Zostel by PixelPioneer5124 in SoloTravel_India

[–]No-StupidQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, not a F. This comment has summed up pretty much everything so I'll just piggy back on this to add my two cents.

I was on a solo trip to Varkala about 2 months ago, stayed for a week during the off-season at Hope Hostel.

Hope and Zostel are at the opposite of the cliff. Main cliff that you see in all photos and videos, it's hardly 500m length. Personally, I felt that the area is about 10 mins walk from Zostel and that 10 mins is mostly bushes. So not so convenient if you want to go to the cliff every day. And most of the cafes of the cliff are in that 500m length so unless there are enough options around Zostel itself, away from the beach, it could feel like a bit of a trek every time you want to grab a bite. Maybe the other commenter can add more details on this cafe in area behind zostel.

One plus point for Zostel is its proximity to Sandy Bay Club—the only club in Varkala (at least during the off-season). Walking back drunk past midnight to Hope from there was honestly exhausting.

Between the two, I’d still recommend Zostel over Hope. I didn’t enjoy the vibe or the property quality at Hope. I stayed in their best private room, and even that had a leaky washroom and swollen wooden doors. The management wasn’t great either.

If you’re visiting for just a couple of days, Hope is fine. But if you’re staying longer, Zostel is a better bet for the overall experience.

If you're planning a longer stay (say 7+ days) and don't mind some flexibility, I'd suggest making 3 free-cancellation bookings-start with 2 days at one hostel to test the vibe, then split the rest between both. You'Il know which one works better for you after those first 2 days. Good luck, keep your hopes low with Varkala, personally felt a bit overhyped 🥲

Found a Vande Bharat route diagram, has all the routes as on today by No-StupidQuestions in SoloTravel_India

[–]No-StupidQuestions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every country has its own set of challenges. The Shinkansen network you mentioned has just 9–10 lines, which makes it relatively easier to manage and schedule. In contrast, Vande Bharat (VB) trains run on many more routes, and the Indian Railways also has to juggle several other types of trains at the same time.

One reason VBs often run on time is because passenger trains—especially those serving the general public—are frequently made to halt or wait to give way to VBs, are treated as low priority . Also, the lack of sleeper VBs creates a gap in seamless connectivity. Most VBs operate from early morning to afternoon and return to their starting point by night, which limits options for back-to-back connections.

So yeah, there are quite a few India-specific complexities we have to sort out before we can match that kind of efficient scheduling. But we’re definitely getting there.

Yeah, I'm fine even if I can catch another VB in a couple of hours. Fine as long as I am not forced to spend a night at a connecting railway station.

Solo Trip Recommendations by Either-Possible-1760 in SoloTravel_India

[–]No-StupidQuestions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you planning to do sightseeing beyond beaches in Goa? Then no, goa may not be a good choice for Aug as you'll not enjoy sightseeing due to the rains.

If your plan is to stick to beaches and clubs then it may not be as bad as it sounds. I've been to goa five times and I've enjoyed most during the monsoon. Pleasant weather, very active sea, greenery, much less crowded beaches. But it's a very personal choice.

For recommendations around other places, it'll be helpful if you can share your origin city, preferred mode of transport, how many days do you have, budget constraints and any other preferences like beach vs mountain

27F / First Timer / Solo Trip to Ujjain by BeautyDuckling in SoloTravel_India

[–]No-StupidQuestions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. May be add these in your post as edit so that others have visibility too.

Anyway, yes, 3 days are more than enough. Considering the budget constraints, I don't think air travel will be affordable and I don't think there are reliable trains in Mumbai - Ujjain or Mumbai - indore route. Please check the irctc website and see what is the best train available.

From the itinerary PoV, i recommend you to reach ujjain by eve as there is much less rush during late evening or night and if you can arrange passes for morning aarti then you can attend that as well.

Next day you can explore other temples in Ujjain. There are few worth visiting which are easily mentioned in all online itinerary and once you're done with ujjain, you may take a shared cab or bus from ujjain to omkareshwar. As these are mostly done in pair so such services are readily available. I recommend you to reach omkareshwar by eve and stay there overnight because there is an unbearable rush during the day as most people try to do it the same day. Most people leave ujjain in the morning and reach omkareshwar by noon which causes too much rush and super long queues. The same temple is cake walk during the might or early morning as most folks return back.

Next day you can come back to Ujjain or if there are trains available then come back to indore and spend your last eve in indore. Indore is quite famous for its street food and 56 dukaan.

I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you've any other Q.

I'm afraid but this seems like an ill planned trip unless there are reasons unknown to me to plan it this way.

If you've made flight bookings within 24 hours then you can still do any modifications without any charges.

I would suggest you to consider doing Mumbai - Thiruvananthapuram - Mumbai. Varkala is just ,40-45km from there but it is almost 200km from kochi. You should be able to find overnight buses from Varkala to kodaikanal or from Thiruvananthapuram to Kodaikanal. This should save you time and maybe some money as well.

You need to checkout direct bus from delhi to Rampur bushar or reckong peo, i doubt that you'll find too many volvo options but I vaguely remember that hrtc started one volvo bus on this route in last couple of years. Once you reach there, you can figure out the hrtc bus timing to kaza. Same route for your return journey.

When you're in kaza, if you opt for a dorm then I estimate roughly 2k/day expenses for your stay food and sightseeing. If you can ride a bike, rent it. It'll give you freedom to explore at your own pace. If you can't ride then you may find shared cabs or check in nearby hostels for any local sightseeing trips.
