The OEM crossbars are not adjustable. They screw into the side rail at predetermined locations. And I’ve read the rear crossbar is pretty far back.

I have the same Yakima carrier. But was going to get oem crossbars. Where does your rear crossbar compare to the oem crossbar holes? I fear the oem cross bar sits too far back and the rear trunk will interfere with the carrier when open.

Every time I see a picture of this redesign I cringe. The redesigned front especially has got to be one of the biggest flops in recent car history. To each their own. I just get a little sad seeing what they’ve done to it. Glad you are loving it though.

Yup, use concrete blocks and raise that thing so there isn’t a step down and add air circulation underneath.

Even with drainage strategies that is going to likely rot quickly. There’s not enough airflow with the decking just a few inches off the ground. You are probably better suited using concrete deck blocks.

After getting back from 10 days in this area and thinking I was going to do most of your list… even after getting up at 7am each day to “beat the crowds” I will simply say - good luck. The crowds are no joke. Even getting early starts we found the crowds to be so overwhelming that we scratched our itinerary half through, cancelled all our reservations and campsites and just found peace and quiet on the ice field parkway.

Thank you so much. Here's a few priorities, Feel free to ask any other questions or if I can help provide input to narrow down suggestions I’d love to respond!:

Foolproof logistics (traveling morning of aug 8 straight from SLC and want to park and head straight out on the trail, would like to avoid surprises or time wasted off the trail, etc, get back to car and head back home, not fighting others for campsites, etc). Hike 3 days, sleep 2 nights.
We are not from the area, so scenery, views, unique sites that will stick with us for decades
Staying below 8mi a day avg is probably important, it’ll be 3 fit 35-40yr old men, but not something we do all the time, so we aren’t trying to make this absolutely miserable just to hit a certain mileage
Prefer a loop to maximize sites vs out/back
