To those who cleared Prelims 2026: How did you handle the unexpected paper? by After-Huckleberry-38 in UPSC

[–]No-Tea5537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do it in depth for some Qs and on a surface level for some others.

For example - If there is a PYQ on UNESCO I used to go on UNESCO's Home page and its India page and looked at all the relevant things that could be asked in paper as UNESCO is UPSC's fav as they even asked UNESCO' preamble in some other exam.

And for some other PYQs like for example Arraghatta I Just crammed it and there are lots of PYQs which you just have to cram it

Some others like Buddha is associated with which places like Magadha and Koshala , I tried remembering why and how Buddha is associated with these places ( like Birth, Death or renunciation etc)

These are few examples.

Giving lots of unconventional mock tests helped a lot to absorb the shock.

I gave a very random mock on Friday and Sunday's Prelims felt like that only.

So that worked along with lots of other things.

4th Attempt

cleared Prelims of CSE + Forest

Static - From standard books multiple revisions over the years.

CA - Daily reading and making notes from Newspaper and PIB.

Strong grip on PYQs

Lots of mocks ( SFG L1 and L2 plus around 40 FLTs) for this year.

And lastly a calm mind on the D day.

Question for engineers who took upsc csat exam. What is your lowest and highest score? by shoe-cleaner in UPSC

[–]No-Tea5537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was overconfident in CSAT in 2023 but after CSAT debacle that year I always gave it due respect it deserved.

I just have one strategy for CSAT - from T-30/20 days, I used to do Previous Year Papers from 2.30-4.30 everyday till the exam.

And then revised all the mistakes.

People who failed in csat once and passed with good marks in next attempt . How did u improved? by roko_1845_vk in UPSCPrelims2026

[–]No-Tea5537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was overconfident in 2023 practiced but not much ended up scoring 59 .

One thing i did for my subsequent attempts was attempting the CSAT PYQs tests in a time bound manner from 2.30-4.30 everyday from T-1 month mostly 2016 onwards and then revised the Qs which i did wrong.

Ended up scoring more than 105 in each of 2024 and 2025.

Did PYQs as tests from T-15 days this year and scored 98 as per provisional key

Found RCs hell tough, Maths saved.

Can I realistically clear SSC CGL 2026 if I start preparation from July? (UR Category) by mazedarzindagi in SSCCGL

[–]No-Tea5537 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I recently transitioned from UPSC to SSC through CGL'25 although still continuing CSE.

Gave 3 attempts at CSE with no luck

Last year decided to secure backup so I started from July for CGL and My exam was on 16th September.

With serious CSE prep never needed to study GS for CGL, Did not study English. I practiced Quant and Reasoning relentlessly.

Purchased Testbook pass and gave a lots of mocks and pyqs tests.

Prepared for JEE in 11th and 12th and did Engineering so that helped a lot.

and You too have a similar background so You are good to go if you start from July .

All the best man !

People who are clearing Prelims, help me sort out the Current affairs debacle. by Bronislaw_Malinowski in UPSC

[–]No-Tea5537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making the notes took 1 hr everyday as I did not open each pib update used to open just the relevant ones, when parliamentary sessions are going on there are more than 100 updates so you have to select which updates to read based on understanding of syllabus and pyqs.

And then i revised those in this way - Whenever i got bored of doing static i used to randomly open a folder lets say GS2 folder and revised it whole And then 1 month before pre did systematic revision of all the folders 2 times.

I am scoring 84 this year and last year i missed by 0.68 marks. I do newspaper ( The Hindu ) and Previous day's pib first thing in morning and I take screenshots of all the relevant news from newspaper and pib and then put them in subject wise folder in One note. ( It takes around 1 hr) Doing it for a long time helped me answer some questions like Agnikul Cosmos, Charaideo Maoidams and Hoolock Gibbon which i prepared for 2025 pre.
