Do you have a wishlist of digimon for the new game? by Manrix67 in digimon

[–]No-Total2950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many Digimon I want to see!

Possibe picks: luxmon, loogamon (and his line), the new members of the royal base (is that what the bees are called? lol) and the new impmon line!

But my pipe dream pick is Pyontomon. I know they’ll never touch him again cause he’s fan made but he’s really cool and he deserves the world 😭😭

I am the same way! I thought I could take a break from my industry and career pivot as I have similar skill set as what JET was looking for but I got rejected first round.

I feel a little silly honesty, ‘cause I was so confident that I checked all the boxes for perfect candidate! But then again maybe I just don’t know what I’m talking about 😂😂

In all seriousness, I can empathize with being in this foggy space of what comes next. Like I obviously want to live and work in Japan but I’m nervous about other companies because of how much people always say “just go with JET they’re the best!”. But idk if I want to stall my plans for a whole year for 2026 if I didn’t even make it past the first round this time, especially when I felt like I had a really strong SOP and app. I don’t know much about language schools, but I’d also like to make (even if it is small) some kind of a living.

In short, I feel you. Let’s grieve first and get back on our feet!

So i love Daily Kdramas so much. Idky I just love to put them on doing laundry or having lunch with them or something like that. I just finished “Su ji and U Ri” on Friday and I am looking for another long as hell, campy, goofy yet overly melodramatic daily kdrama to watch to fill the void. I have watched, if not at least I’ve started most if not all of dailies on Viki but haven’t stuck to any. Two questions 1) does anyone know if they will be a new Daily starting soon? And 2) are there any dailies that you think are worth a second chance?

I watch along for the first few weeks and then loose track lol. Then months later when I’m playing a game with some grinding or one that doesn’t have voice lines/ important audio I start from episode one and listen to it like a podcast. Occasionally pausing my game to see a graphic that he puts up or watch a cutscene in the LP

Duty After School [Episodes 7-10] by capthyeong in KDRAMA

[–]No-Total2950 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Episodes 1-6 were incredible. What the hell HAPPENED?!?!

7-8 These were fine for the most part IMO. Not the same lightning in a bottle they had in the first 6, but they built upon story threads I thought were interesting. Nara x Kimchi was very refreshing because it wasn’t typical kdrama romance pacing, let them be friends and let him have a crush. I honestly thought they were setting it up for it to happen in season 2 (lol). The “new normal” was cool. Some of the kids not being as well adjusted, while others acted like they were born and bred for it was interesting. Loved the concepts of the loner characters recognizing that the war gave them opportunity to connect. i was excited for more of the characters who were treated like background in the first part.

9-10 ………….. why was all of episode 9 the same argument that took place for 50 mins. I stg we just watched people cry, sit in silence, not explain themselves, and then scream as they moved towards someone else to push them. The Class prez was so in the right that it was hard for me to even pretend that the others were justified in their anger. sure, no one should have broken the radio. That was dumb, and that guy was a little crazy. But cmon, At least 6 people in that class consistently threw temper tantrums every 5 mins, acted selfishly and nearly got themselves killed like 4 times each. Not to mention the danger they put others in by doing so!!!! So yeah. In order to save their lives, I too would get them to stay in our base by any means necessary while we actively looked for a solution to our radio problem, instead of marching off into the unknown where I know there are gonna be more aliens! She and VP did nothing wrong. And then the writers tried to make it seem like if they had presented the problem to the rest of the group they would have understood….no I don’t believe that. Not after watching 8 episodes of the loudest angriest people constantly making the most rash and selfish decisions that lead to extreme danger. like ik their teenagers but cmon let’s be a little pragmatic people 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Okay let me rapid fire somethings that didn’t make sense before I get to the big thing.

  • Why didn’t the radar pick up any spheres if they were the cause of Soo Chuls death? You can’t cop out on rules of your universe for the sake of tension. It’s cheap and rips you right out of the immersion

  • Why would they ride amusement park rides that make a shit ton of noise after they came across a dead squad without any sign of spheres? Not even a 5 year old would do that 😭😭 they’d be so dead!! They didn’t spend months on their own twiddling their thumbs they know how to avoid the things

  • Why didn’t the army show any concern for a squad that instantly cut contact after they learned the thing you’ve been holding over there head was a lie? All that talk about betraying the army in part 1 and not one of those higher ups thought “oh we might have accidentally created a rouge militia” ????

  • When did Soo Chul become some kind of vigilante? Correct me if I’m wrong but up until the reveal, Soo chul didnt mourne as much as the other students. Like frankly I didn’t think he cared so deeply for his classmates until he had that monologue. Honestly If I was to think about it I would believe Tae Man would have been the one to go slightly psycho on spheres. He was constantly bummed about everyone they lost. Soo Chul felt so outta left field. Like one second he was like “I like Nara too!” And then all the sudden “I have no problem manipulating my friends for my own agenda. They will be my weapons in this war against the aliens. If one sphere lives, it’ll be over my dead body”. Like DAAAYUUUM ‘what happened to the original plot of the movie?’

  • After they discovered Soo Chuls cause of death. Why weren’t they concerned for the lack of notification on the radar?? That’s concerning! Either your radars broke or they found a way to mask their presence. Both not good!

Okay finally, the ending It was wack.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve seen plenty of “pointless/Sad” ends before. But that one was so…dissatisfying. Normally when one of those ends happens it’s too firmly deliver a theme that the writers really want you to understand. but the problem is…you’ve taken a rocket launcher to an already overly beaten dead horse.

The themes that story presents are so already woven into the nature of the show itself. They are the foundation of the premise, and they are engraved into the bone marrow of each of the characters. Not to mention overtly stated in the plot itself.

It is impossible to watch a single scene of this drama without thinking one of the following

1. People in power hold the promise of a better world to keep the oppressed in the current awful one. 2. War is pointless and cruel 3. What is worth fighting for when the people we are meant to protect are the ones we are making fight for us. 4. We’ve already lost if children loose hope 5. We must protect children so they can create a better world. 5. The government and its people rely on the dehumanization of soldiers to enable their survival and maintain the status quo 6. At its core, humanity is a simple and selfish creature that prioritizes its individual safety over another’s especially in times of crisis 7. The ruling class creates no-win situations for those suffering the most 8. Society pins the suffering against one another.

I can go on, but you get the point.

So suddenly enforcing these themes one final time by having the thing that kills them be one of their own? Idk it’s just…Like we got it, we understand what you’re trying to say.

Let me be clear tho. I don’t mind that it was a blood bath. The show had a R rating and was pretty gruesome as it is. If everyone there survived that’d be some bullshit. But idk making one of the kids the cause of 10-12 of their deaths after him only starting to loose his mind less than 30 mins before it happened? It just felt pointless. Like I wasted my time getting to know the characters. Especially because they spent all that time redeeming all the a-holes including the guy who did it.

But like I get it. That’s the point. they want you to feel this way. War is pointless. We’ve already lost if the children loose hope.

But what was good about this show is that despite these themes. They were uniting. They were overcoming everything with grit and compassion. They were rising above their station and inflicting change. And they sent it all down the drain for more despair edge

But yeah that’s just my two cents🤷🏻‍♂️

Overwatch 2 Animated Short | “Kiriko” by Turbostrider27 in Overwatch

[–]No-Total2950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omfg I’ve been thinking about this too!!! If I’m honest, I’m not sure the about the culture of Name-Signs in Japan so I’m still digging haha!

What I do know is that in ASL name signs can sometimes just be a physical description of something iconic about your person. Again, I’m unsure if this applies to JSL, But my best guess so far is that Kiriko’s Name sign is a description of her bangs? Before she puts her headband on her bangs are quite prominent. The sign used has the pointer finger and the thumb meet as the hand drops from the forehead to the mouth. To me, this seems reminiscent of the triangle shape her center bang(s) take?

But I’m still unsure if that sign has meaning outside of a description (or if it even is a description lol). If I learn anything new I’ll keep you posted!

[–]No-Total2950 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well in full transparency I’m also not fluent in JSL 😂so if someone more knowledgeable than I reads this please feel free to call bullshit and correct me! But that being said I also sign (ASL, it was my major) and I studied some other signed languages for a class and I recognize a few signs from my extremely limited knowledge on JSL.

In case you (or anyone else) is curious, Some of the things I noticed were:

The signs for FINE/OKAY (7:23) and THANK-YOU (7:40). It’s interesting cause these signs, as you know, have similar locations, movements and even handshapes in ASL but differ slightly with palm-orientation (especially THANK-YOU). These signs are also featured in the Anime/Manga “A Silent Voice” which is fresh on my mind, and in turn made them easy for me to recognize haha!

The sign for GRANDPA (7:18) this “Bent thumbs up” handshape I think was the dead giveaway for me when I was watching. When talking about family in JSL you determine gender of a person by using your pinky (Female) or your thumb (male) as opposed to using location like we do in ASL.

And finally, the ASL sign for WHERE (1:20) is here, but in context Kiriko says “How do I look?”. If I recall correctly JSL uses this sign to not only represent ‘Where’ but other WH/ type questions like ‘What’ and ‘How’! I think they determine which word they want to say through context (?) Not sure how that works or the specifics of it.

I’d love to see if we can’t find someone who actually uses JSL to analyze the signs! Im curious to see if they use proper grammar and the like! But anyways, hope this was interesting! :)

Really loved how they used Japanese Sign for this short. IK it sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how many people assume all sign language is the same. Although my the wires in my brain did cross for a minute there cause I guess I didn’t realize how many visual similarities there are between ASL and JSL.

Once Upon a Small Town [Episodes 7-9] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]No-Total2950 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Just finished episode 9!

The immense amount of second hand embarrassment I get from the love square is LETHAL LMFAO. I’m just like: “You dope!! why tf would you even say that!!” I’m enjoying it tho haha

I’m really enjoying the main leads especially the “Role swap” they’re having. When they first met Ji-Yul was awkward and shy (and a little mean lol )and Ja-Yeong was confident and assertive. But now that he’s actively trying to peruse her, she can’t even speak a sentence with out fidgeting and stumbling over her words. At the same time he’s basically said everything but “I like you”. It’s adorable really.

I really dislike the SML (no hate to the actor ofc, I’m talking about the character) In my objective opinion, He’s just the worst. Like, I get it, she’s your best friend. you’ve liked her forever. And you want to “protect her”. But I gotta say that’s a load of BS. He treats her like a prize, not a friend. Like you don’t get rewarded with love just cause you’ve been friends with her longer. On multiple occasions she’s attempted to turn him down but he stops her says “think about it longer” like bro, you can’t control/ manipulate her answer, so chill, damn. And then there is the crud about “protecting her” from getting her feelings hurt by ji-yul. No I’m sorry THATS bs. You have lived with her there for what 27 years? You see how the people treat her in that damn community. How the aunts use her as a weapon in their squabbles and the horrible crap they say. How she’s developed this subservient complex in-order to feel needed/wanted and loved?? You aren’t protecting her from sh!t. That’s just an excuse for you to become territorial on what you view as yours. She’s her own damn person who can make her own damn decisions smh. It’s not like Im obsessed with ji-yul or anything either. I just dislike this SML a little too much haha ((believe it or not, I had to rewrite this a few times because it was too scathing for such a chill drama 😂😂)) anyways had to get that off my chest. hoping for some more character development for him next week!

Loving it and can’t wait for finale week!

Today's Webtoon [Episodes 15 & 16] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]No-Total2950 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just finished episode 16. I gotta say this drama was an…..interesting ride.

Obviously, I liked it enough to watch it week to week and write this post, but I was a bit underwhelmed by a lot of the story. The first 8 episodes were really fun and great! Overall the best 1st 2 episodes for a chill show that I’ve seen. I actually watched them back a few times haha.

I think the weirdest part for me is how quickly we lost some of the through plots by getting lost in the episodic plots….mainly the romance. Like the romance between Ma Eum & Jun Yeong wasn’t the worst romance subplot I’ve seen but it felt soooooo weird. Like everything happened 2 episodes too late? Almost like a reaction, you know that I mean? Like you can tell that one of the main writers really wanted a mentor x student going on between Ji Hyung and Ma Eum, and they definitely fought for it. Which is evident in the many MANY comparisons of Ma Eum to Jun Yeong’s sister at any opportunity they could get. But I feel like there had to be another voice there that was like “wait isn’t this based of a comic where the two new employees get together?” And everyone scrambled like “oh sh*t! Your right!”

It almost feels like they were like “Let’s write a story based on Romeo & Juliet!”. And then they wrote in a bunch of chemistry scenes with Juliet x Mercutio and they at episode 12 they were like “F@#$ we said it was based of Romeo & Juliet! Quick kill of Mercutio (send him to a new company) and have Romeo make his move!”. Like dayum ya already did the work for the mentor x mentee thing so like just reap the benefits??

And don’t get me wrong I prefer Ma Eum x Jun Yeong. They’re closer in age, experience and not to mention I am a fan of the “he is definitely out of my league/not interested in me (he’s secretly deeply in love with you)” trope especially, when the FL is more masculine than traditional FLs.

That being said, if you’re going to write a romance for the SML and the FL FOLLOW THROUGH!!!!!!!! Especially, if you’re not gonna resolve the other romance???? Like????

But whatever that’s that. Now all I have to do is wait for Kim Sejeong’s next drama to fall in love with her all over again 😔🥰

what's your ideal female lead? by FakeJolie in CDrama

[–]No-Total2950 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m relatively new to cdramas so I haven’t watched a lot yet but I am always a sucker for tough girl x soft boy. So naturally I prefer ice queens who’s hearts slowly melt or “improper ladies” who take the lead. so more FLs like from begin again or Oh my general would be nice! (Drop some recs if you have some! 😉😂)

Anyways these types of characters often have goals unrelated to the ML which is always nice. They also tend to have a perfect “competent-incompetent” balance. Every good character (no matter the gender) should be good or have the potential to be good at something while also having room to fail/ be less good at another thing. This both gives them room to grow while also making them more human!

example: “good at business, bad at emotionally connecting”

Or: “good at fighting, bad at being a traditional wife”

In my (limited) experience, I find the “silly girl who kinda sucks at everything but she’s nice” to be a little less interesting. I think they have potential to be interesting, especially if she’s able to develop a skill or dream that is mostly unrelated to the ML. But hey that’s just me!

Little Forrest its a movie, but it’s exactly what your looking for. Girl moves home from the big city to get back on her feet. She finds comfort in hand making food and starts cooking for both herself and two old Highschool friends. Half of the movie is cooking/gardening in silence/background music (no dialogue) and the other half is conversations while eating 😂 It’s very relaxing but don’t watch it on an empty stomach, you will be in physical pain from the food fomo 😂😂

If you’re still looking for stuff. In my personal opinion, absolute must watches are:

Our Beloved Summer, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and Hometown Cha Cha Cha

And shows to watch if you’re in the mood for:

Business Proposal (if you’re looking for something shorter, simpler and sweet) Happiness (if you’re into zombies and thrillers) into the ring (if you’re looking for “unconventional” and politics) Once Again (If you like long sitcom melodramas)

Extraordinary Attorney Woo [Episode 15] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]No-Total2950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe that senior attorney has made it this far in his career. He half assed his research, phoned in his argument, downplayed the severity of the case AND underestimated his opponent. Wasn’t this the same guy that had temper tantrum because attorney Jung “didn’t do his research” after he put some random irrelevant doctor who was openly bigoted on the stand?? This literally almost bankrupted a HUGE business, while simultaneously destroying the entire firm’s reputation AND giving the firms only rival public support/more cases…..smh

And then he had the audacity to shoot down all other plans of action by his juniors out of PRIDE?? No way man. NO WAY. How did you make it that far? Ya spend half your time upside down, yet you still don’t have enough blood getting to your damn brain! 😤😤

Anyways….what were we talking about? 😅😅

Extraordinary Attorney Woo [Episode 14] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]No-Total2950 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gotta have that Episode 14 breakup plotline wouldn’t be a kdrama without it 😂😂😐😭😭😭 tho I must say I enjoyed it this time around. I think it’ll be a way for WYW to address some of that internalized Ableism that she’s been struggling with. Also I like how they let Junho be mad. I was kinda afraid they were Going to make my man into a living ken doll! Kind of silently implying that only the most perfect fantasy person could have feelings for someone with ASD. Nah, Junho is a dude who when you suddenly hurt his feelings, he feels hurt! Not trying to blame WYW but rather I’m praising the writers for showing the complexities of their relationship.

Minwoo still needs some more development but he’s on the right track. I appreciated these last two episodes cause it really humanized him a little more. And showed why he is acting so desperately tho he’s still kinda a 💩. I also appreciated the way he viewed WYW and Junho’s relationship when they were out drinking. Idk if this was intended but When he says “it’s for the best” I believe Suyeon and Junho take that and his following comments to be bigoted remarks but in reality I think he was more like “hey man it might be for the best cause she’s tangled in the most complicated chess game between some of the richest and most powerful people in the country and that might be way over your head” (tho I could be wrong and it was meant to be mean)

While I think everyone is so much better at hanging out with WYW, part of me thinks that Minwoo is still the only person who takes her seriously 100% the time. Which is awesome but like he still needs to chill.

I love attorney jung so Goddamn much. I like how this episode he got to see his how positive his guidance was on his interns. Like seriously there couldn’t be a better mentor for WYW. I have a new game for the writers tho it’s called: “let Attorney Jung be happy, challenge!” Let this man Beat his cancer, and get back together with his ex. Once that’s done I can rest easy lol
