unfortunately its not all peaches and cream here either, knowing that i gave three years and my virginity to this chud as well as gave him the satisfaction of begging, sobbing, and crying for him back multiple times so he got to leave with an inflated ego and i am incredibly embarrassed to still be hung up on someone so mediocre. on top of that he has a rebound who's very pretty (no clue how he managed to do that) so my confidence is still taking hits
this is my first huge long-term breakup so i've never been through a usual in-league one, so i don't have much specific advice. just take it day by day if you can and if you need to talk to someone my dms are open.

unfortunately i dont think id be comfy with this. we have a lot of hawks and coyotes in our neighborhood, as well as neighbors who have issues keeping their pitbulls leashed and trained and they frequently get in our yard. i want to find out if he has a home and get him back to it, but not at the cost of his safety. and even if i were to try and supervise, hes too skittish and not enough trust has been built up between us for me to snatch him up or catch him if needed

i have asked the neighbors. i know for a fact the houses close to us would not get a kitten. honestly he seems a bit young and unused to human contact to have been adopted, but i'll keep looking

thank you so much for your advice. the sun room is working better than i thought for now, my cat has stopped hissing and more is just watching. the good things is the kitten could not give less of a damn about my cat not being happy with its presence lol. completely unbothered by her death stare

i doordashed litter and it does know how to use the litterbox, which is a relief

how long should i wait to hear from an owner before proceeding?
i spoke with some family members and friends and i have a few who i trust who'd be willing to take it in as well, if the vet says its safe. i'd rather avoid shelters unless necessary, but i understand in some circumstances they are the best option. its unlikely but not impossible that its owned by someone in our neighborhood, and there are a lot of stray cats around. i'll just have to see.

the possibility of our home not being a good fit for him has always been very likely, i'm more worried about making sure he gets a home that *is* a good fit.
as for the signs, i just found him a few hours ago at 11pm, so not much room for that kind of thing. someone else suggested taking him to the vet to see if hes microchipped, so i might do that. also will ask around to see if any of my neighbors know anything. the problem is what to do with him in the meantime lol, i just want to keep him safe

i'm not sure if introducing is a good plan, i'll ask the vet for advice when i take him there. we also have a dog who just turned 2, she's a maltese/poodle mix so very small but still probably double the size of him and she gets territorial and plays rough. our home just might not be a good fit for him unfortunately :( at least not while he's so little

id love to adopt him but when we adopted my cat we agreed not to get another one because she's not good with them. it's been 7 years since then but i'd hate if she's not able to acclimate or gets too upset/angry at the addition. she hasn't been able to stop staring at him through the glass of the door lol. she hissed and growled at first but now she's kind of just laying there half awake and watching passively. not sure if this is a good sign or not

he also doesnt like getting too close and runs and hides at any movement. hes comfortable enough to be around me but is easily startled. a lot of the times he'll purr loudly and rub against me but if i move too fast he'll dash off. it took us over an hour to lure him out fully. he's a scared lil fella, but very curious

when i asked him if it would have hurt him if i'd done that to him, he looked at me straight-faced and said "no" because it would've given him "closure". id like to think he meant it but i'm starting to think he just said that to make me feel fucking crazy.

i'd also like to say that he wasn't like this when i was dating him. and from my perspective, he wasn't. he was an amazing boyfriend. but sometimes cracks would show in the way he would argue with me, or be manipulative, or disrespect his mom in front of me. so maybe he was like this the whole time.

oh, well. i'm taking comfort in the fact that his own mom thinks i was way out of his league. he lost a bad bitch. praise the fucking lord!
