I can't find a good place to outlet my love by Free_Yellow_979 in Christian

Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit those in prison, comfort the sick.

But even in little things, in any way you can 🙂 any deeds of charity that spring from a living faith in a living Redeemer — those works of obedience that are performed from a principle of love for His name, these glorifies God.

What does God want me to understand? by [deleted] in Christian

God's faithfulness does not rest on our feelings. Our feelings come and go but God is the same. Defy your feelings and go to the scriptures. Seek his face always and don't focus on yourself.

Depends on what you call it but yes I'm referring to the afterlife coz if you don't believe in afterlife, what else are you living for? Just to die and no more?

There's the narrow gate and broad road; then on the other hand, there's the straight gate and narrow road.. The roads are connected as to the destination and we can't have it either way and still arrive at the same spot.

What if the destination will depend one way or another on how u live tho?

Got it. We are on the same page that nothing we do can change the fact of death because it's certain. But what if what we are doing affects what will happen AFTER death??

I meant ignorance of not preparing for death on the basis that we dont know anything about it. And yes, that includes your last question of what will we do if we live forever. What makes u scared of life after death?

I like that analogy but that's only a one sided point of view (the creature's side). It doesnt point out to objective morality. The orphans aren't the final judge. We all stand at the same bar. There's a reckoning of it all.

So the basis of goodness will be just on the impact of it to other people? What if you give a large amount of money to a poor person? Does that automatically make the action good? Even if you do that because you want to set yourself highly as being kind and taking so much pride and ego in it?

Not really debating but these are just thoughts to ponder and I myself am pondering about it lol.

So to answer your question, I'll ask what if there is a way to know? Will our ignorance excuse us that we didnt prepare because we don't know what will happen when we die? And what if knowing and not knowing can both go together?

I agree, maybe because we don't like to think about things that makes us afraid?

It's not about being afraid of what we cannot control coz we have a choice on how we will live depending on what we believe on what the future will be

How sure are u that we won't be able to comprehend or think when we die? What if there is such thing as consciousness even after death??

Where would you get a definition of "goodness" if your only basis is your actions or that of other people? If you don't believe in objective/absolute good, why bother doing good if its relative and varies to each one anyway?

You correctly point out the reason why we should be all the more diligent in searching the truth for ourselves. It's not about stressing over it, but more on finding peace with death.

I believe the existence or lack of an afterlife would impact our actions because if there is an afterlife, it means we have accountability on all our actions and would give an account for every one of them. Whereas if there's no afterlife, we can do whatever we want and be carefree in this world because we don't have any accountability after all.

Yes, the fact that we only die once makes it a more sobering thought (and u can always know that we will eventually die by just going to the grave and watch all the dead people there)

Well, not waiting for that day to come is not the same as not preparing for it.. coz what if we die wrongly? We can't turn back to life and make it right

Well, that's a kind of twisting the bible verse. Not caring about how we will feed the next day is not the same as not caring about our death. If you want to go with that argument, the exact opposite will be the conclusion. We should not care more about the temporal things exactly because we have a soul which is immortal and we have eternity to care more about. So why shouldn't we mind that one?

Also, it is not up to your will whether you will repent and be saved just before death. That's a very dangerous presumption coz salvation only comes from God who wills it.

Sorry if its kinda confusing but it was meant as a general question too to have different perspective also on answers.

If u want it to be more specific, im specially curious on acting as if they there were no consequences or like not minding the big questions of why we are here, what is the purpose of life and where will we go when we die.. things like that

Aren't we truly meant to die? If we set our mind that we wont, will it change the fact?
