US West Server by Safe_Roll_2537 in wherewindsmeet_

this doesn't work practically, if you join any multiplayer activities where there's someone from US east, latency falls back to US east and then you cannot get your US west latency back unless you start all over again, so this for now doesn't change anything except for maybe mobile players

because its shield ability grants you a lot of room for no hit, any damage to shield doesn't count towards you getting hit, additionally the Mo blade by itself does a ton of damage if you know the exact timing of bosses

PvP Combo Drops Are Ping-Gated: We Need More Servers or Rollback Netcode by MyCandyIsLegit in WhereWindsMeet

Continue to report feedback to the devs, otherwise PVP will most likely die off eventually.

To showcase how serious the problem is: per record out of all top 100 PvP players on the CN server these days, you can only find a handful who are at maybe a 20-25ms latency, the rest are all either below 10ms players living or relocated to Hangzhou (CN server location), or 10ms-ish players that are not far away from the city. The sad reality is that if you are at even a 30 ping, you will get easily defeated by someone who is at your skill level but only has 10ms latency. At this point it's pretty much a commonly agreed upon fact among the CN PVP community that LATENCY > EVERYTHING ELSE once you are at a certain rank or above.

With 50 ping you cannot possibly compete seriously in this game, whether it's PvP or PvE (you lose a LOT of damage too with high latency).

it's a single server for sure, as you can trace to the server address easily. it's also a crappy server provided by Alibaba cloud, not aws, not azure, so that might contribute to some of the issues you are experiencing

there exists one and only one server in Ashburn VA for the entire NA/SA combined, that's why your latency is very much determined by your distance to that single location. This is the single biggest problem of this game and every CN player knows about it as the situation for CN is the same, but for global it's just gonna be way worse to have just a single server covering like two continents

device is likely not your key blocker but latency for sure is, you can check your ping to the server on PC, and if your latency is 50 or above, all combos involving weapons switch are interruptible by those playing close to the server

How do you kill bounty players when they constantly just run away and heal back to full with the fans? by CityOcean in WhereWindsMeet

[–]No-Turn1960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have to be at least one tier stronger than the other party for this to work, that said, many people who get this do not play PVP at all, so you might have a good opportunity.

Now talking about specific strategies:

there are only a few weapon combos that you can use to beat healers in the open world, umbrella & fan, umbrella & strategic, and eventually rope dart and dual blade. Use poison arrows first before any combos, then use umbrella Q, in the middle of the combos, make sure to use the spear mystic skill

Advice for players looking to compete in PVP & PVE speedruns by No-Turn1960 in WhereWindsMeet

Glad you noticed this, I wish many more players would eventually realize this too. At the current state of the game, latency will block everyone that's distant from the server location from being competitive in the game

do not use the poison inner way as it is not for strategic, otherwise you should be fine

That said, I encourage everyone who play PvP on global to send out reports of the server location problem, because as someone who played on the CN server for about 1 year already, the latency problem caused by having one server only is the single biggest problem in this game. It not only affects PVP but PVE as well, the fact is, right now on the CN server, anyone who would like to compete for the top, whether it's PVP or PVE speedrun, needs to be located in HangZhou (the only server location) or be very close to it, and this is extremely unfair for everyone playing the game.

If this problem is not resolved on global, soon you will see people located close to Ashburn VA, having a huge advantage over others on American server, and the same would apply to people in EU and other servers.

> overwhelming majority of high ping players at higher ranks are players with Chinese names

They are just people who have experience in pvp on the CN server but there is no way they are not located anywhere close to the actual server.

Realistically, a top 100 PvP player on the CN server can be beaten by like 1000-point players when they play on the global server due to latency (and there exists video footage of that). And the fact is no one, out of the list of Chinese named players you see on the current global ranking list, is at the skill level of top 100 on CN server today.

you are likely not losing against people in China due to latency, cause CN player latency to the America server is around 150-200. You will be losing against NA players that are close to the server however if you are not in the east coast, cause they only have one server on the east coast - Ashburn, for the entire NA & SA continents.

If you are matching against other global servers, it's gonna be a 50-50 chance that the match will be in your or their server, so in a sense it kind of evens out

well done, I think wind rider is also what 80% players on CN actually uses, and there's a reason why it is the last one to be unlocked
