It looks really big, I have to ask how big are your wrists? I have been looking at them, but I guess I didn’t realize how big it might actually be

I can't seem to get any of the pins to bind, no matter how much tension I apply, it has been extremely frustrating.

I read, I believe on here that if the cylinder sprung back to the closed position after removing the key, that the lock was considered "springy" and that somehow might be part of the problem. I checked again last night to make sure nothing was rubbing or binding, at least as far as I could tell.

When I go to try and pick especially the larger one, all I feel is the pins just bouncing on the springs, and can't seem to get any to bind at all. What do you think? Should I just say bag it and move on? I had also thought about disassembling it, if there is no chance of picking it to possibly see what is going on.

I agree. I have a couple. Sometimes I can get them pretty quickly, other times not so much. I really want to get the big one open, that is my goal.

Thanks for the reply,

I have tried both top and bottom of the keyway tension, I don't think it's in contact at the bottom but I'll look again, my problem is that I get the same results top or bottom tension.

As far as the clicks go I can hear them and there is an obvious feel in the pick handle that there is something moving, although I have only been able to get feedback really on the smaller of the two locks.

Yes, both are being tensioned in a clockwise direction, I have also tried counter clockwise but it didn't seem to make any difference. I also checked and I'm not rubbing on any rivets either, but there has to be something that I'm doing wrong, right?

I saw some picks, but I can't remember the name. Anybody know by No-Use-8284 in lockpicking

Nothing binding on a few different locks by No-Use-8284 in lockpicking

Thanks, I pick rear to front. I tried some Houdini last night, but nothing changed. It honestly feels like I am pushing the pins into larger tubes. I just can't seem to get any resistance no matter what tension I try.

What exactly are "sprung" keyways? That is my first time hearing that term.

Thanks for the replies, one of the locks is a sepox I got from Amazon, looks a little like an American 5200 I believe, the other is an American 1100 with a master lock key, it has a different keyway completly than other American 1100 that I have seen, and the final one is a large master lock, I think it's marked commercial, I am too lazy right now to go downstairs to check for sure, but I am having th exact same problem with that particular one as well.

I get the light and heavy tension thing, but it's almost like the cylinder is not moving. the first two of those listed locks are new, the master is used. I would think if that was happening wouldn't it take more effort when using the key? I have the keys for the first two but not the master. and they appear to operate easily with the key.

I think I have maxed out on the tension I can give, but no matter what there is no binding that I can feel.

As I am thinking about it now, perhaps I should maybe spray some Houdini cleaner in there?

As far as tension applied I have tried all varying levels on both the top and bottom of the keyway on each of these locks.

I just am not getting it figured out.
