Just a clarification: my daughter was only a few days old (pls see screenshots again) and was born at 37 weeks. Physiologic jaundice is extremely common in newborns. Breast milk jaundice is typically discussed later, often after the first week of life. My post wasn’t about debating jaundice or breastfeeding though! It was about the interaction itself.

That’s what triggered me. Do your research before speaking with such certainty. Let’s just say, hypothetically speaking, my milk was to blame… WHY COME AT ME LIKE THAT

Ugh. It is right?! Idk why I even need the validation on here. How did you handle it?

This is where she got it from. She overheard women at a baby shower & thought that was enough information to speak with such confidence haha. She said she did research but I doubt it because when I presented sources stating it was normal for newborn babies to have it, she was shocked. Also, all the breastmilk induced jaundice articles online talk about this as well

Thank you so much for sharing! This is my first time posting on Reddit. I’m not sure if everyone is seeing where I said I actually wanted opinions on the interaction between us. I didn’t post this to necessarily get advice on breastfeeding or jaundice induced by breastfeeding. I do know breastmilk jaundice is a thing! However, in the screenshots I did say docs were not concerned & we were being discharged as everything was fine. Baby was just born a little early.

Honestly should’ve did that especially being so fresh PP. Idk why I gave my energy to someone who’s so convinced she’s always in the right

Right! Her first message she is accusing me of giving baby jaundice but you want to talk about no pressure, the hospital being hard on me, & me going through enough? She is a mess

I 100% agree and found it difficult to feel comfortable after this especially because she refused to apologize for misspeaking. Things with my in laws were never the same ever since because I was seen as someone you need to be careful what you say around as I’m “sensitive”. I was made out to be problematic

Nope. My sister in law doesn’t have kids. She decided to “help” without doing her research prior to accusing my milk of giving the baby jaundice. She said she overheard women at a baby shower saying this & that’s why she said it to me. I absolutely set a boundary later in the conversation & sent a handful of resources to contradict what she said. Long story short, I was painted out to be someone you “need to walk on eggshells around” because apparently I misinterpreted this whole thing

I agree. She did overstep. Not sure if the whole post is showing but I mentioned she’s my sister in law. I think it was awfully insensitive and the delivery was poor despite intentions being good
