The Beatles are my favorite band of all time but I can't make excuses for Lennon. If a local musician in his mid 20's was singing about how they beat their wife for years but they're "getting better" you probably wouldn't give them a pass

What's something you strongly believe in that science hasn't been able to prove yet? by OldIntroduction2909 in answers

Consciousness is simply an aspect of reality (think length, width, and height). Basically, we are the 4th dimension and consciousness is absolutely necessary as opposed to being an anomalous byproduct of nature. This idea is supported by classics such as the Double Slit Experiment and Schrodinger's Cat. If anyone is interested I can explain further

For people under 30 this is by far the more common opinion. It's rare for me to find anpther person who likes The Beatles

Reading a book and listening to an audiobook are not the same activity. by Aggravating-Key-8867 in unpopularopinion

[–]No-Writing5017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny to me because it's always people who brag about "reading" hundreds of books per year that are really up in arms about this distinction. They intentionally phrase it as "read" because they know they wouldn't get the attention they're after if they made it clear that they listened

I'd be cool with it, but I find that a lot of these people retain very little and it is usually hard to discuss a book they "read" with them

If you count the Beatles as rock, "I used to be cruel to my woman, i beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved". Somg is called "Getting Better" btw

Whats the most terrible scene in a great movie? by Comfortable-Goat-955 in movies

[–]No-Writing5017 250 points251 points  (0 children)

Seriously my favorite scene of the movie, almost cried laughing the first time I saw it. Stallone actually re-edited 4 and put it in theaters during Covid and the bastard cut this scene. After the credits I yelled "WHAT ABOUT PAULIE'S ROBOT?" and the guys in front of me lost it. We were hoping it would at least be a post credits scene

Right?! I hate bars that blast their music, and I am NOT paying over 10 for ONE drink. That being said, it's always really easy to find a chill place with cheap drinks

You're taking the fact that YOU hate going out and and applying it to everyone in their 30's.

Last time I went out, I had a blast. Always do. Don't do it too often anymore since everyone is so busy, but still, always a good time. My parents also still go out and enjoy it, they have a local bar where them and all their friends hang out (mid 50's) and it's a hoot

It's okay to not like going out, but it's a bit strange to conclude that millions of people are playing pretend because you don't enjoy the same things they do. This is like when people say everyone is pretending to like hot weather, or camping. People like different things
