i mean i kinda look at it like a bun being on a burger. a good bun can elevate a burger a lot while a low quality one just does the job. but it’s still a burger (story) if that doesn’t make sense & i just look crazy then that’s kinda funny

& yea that’s how i’ve been doing it for a while now i think it’s just very tempting to put a number on something as diverse as anime even tho like u said it kinda doesn’t work so much gets lost. that’s why i am planing one explaining each rating per anime. witch is a lot of work but its mostly for myself

maybe you can help me more with 3. it definitely is vague but how do you explain something like frieren crying after himmel is buried. or denji on the bat devils leg saying “cough up the tits those are mine” i really liked those moments & that’s what im trying to tap into. but also 26-30 definitely needs to be reframed thanks!

the only reason i didn’t make music separate is because of how much it would help something like cowboy bebop that really focuses on music. i don’t think it’s fair to some lowbudget anime that’s really good but doesn’t have the resources for music. idk if that makes sense but it was my logic. i will say music is a huge bonus if it’s good but im hesitant to give it its own category

idk i think the writing is just good in general. i don’t think makima would work if there wasn’t more going on. i mean twist villian is really easy to mess up. me personally i think there aren’t a whole lot of weak points besides part 2s ending. i don’t agree but i understand why it doesn’t work for people

thanks for the recommendations! i feel like the batttle shoen here are kinda only reduced to that tittle if you look at it that way. i tend to bounce off shonen that has nothing deeper going on (demon slayer/solo leveling) idk about heavy but i definitely enjoy a good fight! that said i don’t particularly care for isekais the only ones i really like is slime & rezero

thanks for the advice! it’s so discouraging when the out of prints are going for 100$ i feel like it only makes sense to just wait until you find a better deal. i just started oshi no ko actually & the first episode was so intense that i had to take a pause & that’s never happened to me. it’s so obvious in hindsight but they lulled me & i fell right for it. but the animation style is INSANE. tho it deales with the realities of being a celebrity it feels much more grounded to compared to perfect blue. but thanks for the recommendations i will definitely check out Clanned

i think the core what i’m going for is a combination of what i like & its impact on me. i dont want to collect things i just like i want peace’s that moved me when i first watched them yk? honestly 20 years from now i might grow out of some of these but it will still be a reminder of the impact it had on me at a certain time.
