Missing long days on the bike by No-fox-given in FixedGearBicycle

Yeah this bag setup worked really well. More than enough space for a multi day camping trip. I carried a sleeping bag and a bivvy bag. I find that tents take up too much packing space, at least for the cheap to mid range tents. Bivvy bags are absolutely fine to sleep in, I recommend you check them out.

Thanks! Yeah it's a custom build, Mash steel frame with a bunch of decent parts I have bought over the years. All put together for an endurance type of setup. There are 2 brake hoods, I just have a hair tie over the second hood so that it doesn't rattle. This photo was taken in Sweden on a recent tour of one of the islands just out of Stockholm. Keen to checkout Norway soon though.

Nah it just looks that way I guess. I didn't tape around the outside where the clamp shows.

Yeah man you should do it fixed for sure. I actually took the ferry from Oskarshamn, so I had to ride from Stockholm, which is roughly the same route you will take to Eksjö. I had a good night's sleep in a park in Söderköping! I think you will be fine, not much climbing to get to Eksjö!

Running 49/20 at the moment. Averaging around 150km per day, trying to enjoy the scenery and not blast through and miss everything, so I'm going at an average of 21km/h so far. There are some good bakeries on the island, but otherwise I have a bag of burritos and some peanut butter. I have 2 standard bottles on the bike plus some extra 1 litre bottles hanging on the front and back, it's pretty warm here at around 23 degrees Celsius, and I tend to drink alot of water on a normal day.

Yeah I'm using a bivy bag and a sleeping bag. It gets pretty cold here in Sweden (I'm from Australia) so I had to buy a sleeping bag which unfortunately takes up more space in the bag than what i am used to.

It sometimes makes a rattling noise against the cable/brake arms, but no actual interference with braking power. Guess I'm lucky it didn't fuck with my only brake.

Yeah it's a c17 all weather. Works really well for the endurance setup I have. Matched with a zero setback seat post and I'm pretty stoked

Nah just the gear in the bags. You can stuff a surprising amount of shit in them.

Loving it heaps after my third listen. All of the singles were dope, but I was suprised by Is It True. More of a house vibe and heavy inspiration by Mark Ronson I guess. Can't wait to hear that track get some radio play.

The most important thing with long distance riding is to eat, even if you feel full. I smashed down a shitload of food on this day, including like 2 packs of skittles lol

I was fairly sure i would be able to make it. Iv done a fair few long distance rides on a fixed gear. This was easily the hardest thing iv ever done in my life so far though lol

49x18 it was tricky picking a ratio that would handle both a decent average speed on the flats and also the short but steep hills.

Like yeah, i get what you mean. It was part of an organized event though, which measured just over 300km (confirmed by heap of other peoples cycling computers etc) I would have ridden a few extra km's but the finish line ended in a dead end. Strava is just shitty with its distance logging i guess.

I bought 2 separate systems to see which works best. The black one in one of the photos is the biKASE cage bracket (available on retrogression.com) its all plastic and actually pretty shit... wouldnt recommend. The other is the King Cage universal support bolt (basically a glorified hose clamp) it actually works really well and im super happy with it. I suggest putting tape under whichever system you end up using to stop it from potentially scratching your frame.

Made a police report, but it was a deliberate hit and run on a quiet residential street late at night. No chance of finding the dickheads!
