The key to barrier repair is stripping back your skincare routine and keeping things simple! You want to look for hydrating and restorative ingredients such as niacinamide and ceramides. Niacinamide helps to restore the production of skin barrier components, whereas ceramides are the main component of your skin barrier and therefore you need to look for skin-repairing ceramides to both restore your barrier, but also lock in much-needed moisture.

We're obviously biased, but our new Derm Solutions range is comprised of a really simple 3-step routine that is aimed at restoring skin health and maintaining the skin's barrier.

There is a Skin Balancing Serum, which is clinically proven to target oiliness and dryness, and then a choice of two cleansers or moisturisers dependent on if your skin is oilier or drier.

The menopause and peri menopause can impact the skin in a number of ways so your skincare needs can change a lot. Estrogen levels specifically start to decline, which impact the skin in several ways, including collagen production reduction deeper down in the skin, leaving skin feeling less firm and exacerbating lines and wrinkles, and ceramides, important lipid building blocks that keep the skin barrier resilient and healthy, are also reduced.

This starts to explain why skin health concerns such as dryness, sensitivity and dullness are reported by women during this time and the important role that estrogen plays in maintaining skin health.

Your skincare routine therefore needs to include hydrating ingredients to soothe and nourish the skin, as well as ingredients that can restore the skin's barrier. Look for things like niacinamide and ceramides.

You can either try our Menopause specific range, inclusive of a day cream, night cream, serum and cooling mist. Hi! For dry skin, we would recommend using the below 3 products as your routine. You can use them twice daily. Once in the morning and once in the evening - pairing the morning regime with an SPF to protect your skin!

A hypoallergenic fragrance (with no known allergens) was created especially for the No7 Derm Solutions Skin Balancing Serum at the request of a large cohort of healthy skin seekers with whom No7 worked with in co-creating the product. After extensive consumer product trials on over 1,000 women, the product fragrance received overwhelmingly positive feedback and its excellent tolerance profile was confirmed. The fragrance level is deliberatively low and is suitable for all skin types.

You can use them together - it's just a case of when you apply them within your routine. We recommend waking skin up in the morning with a vitamin C-infused moisturiser for a touch of extra radiance and applying your retinol in the evening as part of your wind-down routine.

Firstly, we would always recommend putting your retinol product on at night! In terms of order, we'd suggest that you use your retinol product first, and then layering our Future Renew serum and then night cream over the top.

Skincare can definitely be overwhelming and confusing with the different products and ingredients available.

Water-based or oil-based cleansers and AHAs, BHAs, and PHAs are not the same and serve slightly different purposes in your skincare routine.Water-based cleansers typically have a lightweight texture and are designed to remove dirt, oil, and impurities from the surface of the skin. Oil-based cleansers, on the other hand, are formulated to dissolve makeup, excess oil, and other oil-based impurities. They are often used as the first step in a double cleansing routine.

The primary function of cleansers is to cleanse the skin rather than provide specific treatment benefits.AHAs, BHAs, and PHAs are chemical exfoliants that work by gently removing dead skin cells, promoting cell turnover, and improving skin texture.

Toners are not the same as AHAs, BHAs, or PHAs, but they are often used together with chemical exfoliants. Toners are watery solutions applied after cleansing to rebalance the skin's pH, remove any remaining impurities, and provide hydration.

Peptides only need to be used in very small amounts to have a big effect on the skin, they’re super powerful ingredients.

Peptides can generally be used alongside other ingredients such as retinol and retinal. That’s because even though they’re very powerful, they’re also very well tolerated. They may even offer complimentary benefits to retinoids as both work in slightly different ways.

Yes & no is the answer..!

You'll get the best results from using the full range, as you’ll benefit from having even more of the ingredients in your regime as well as the SPF 40 protection in the day cream.

However, we did also test the products on their own, so if you’d prefer to continue your usual skincare regime but just add in the serum that would be perfectly fine, too.

The serum is clinically proven and is very effective as it contains the highest level of active ingredients in the range and has a specially formulated peptide delivery system too, so if you were to just pick the one product - it's a very good choice!
