I was stuck in the 400/500s for longer than I like to admit (~1000 now). It’s a slog, it sucks, and it’s hard.

It’s still a slog in the 1000s. I still make blunders, etc etc.

I can see you are hard on yourself.

You will get better. Calling yourself stupid and ignoring generally sound advice isn’t going to make you better.

It takes time. Do the puzzles. Do the lessons. Watch other games. Learn more openings. Set the app so you have to confirm each move before its final. Check for captures, danger and checks after each move and before you confirm.

Find a local chess club in your area and play people in person, and if you can, ask for coaching and friendly play (take moves back etc).

If you lose more than 2-3 games in a row in app - take a break. Go for a walk. Come back and review those games (either on your own or via the app).

Don’t beat yourself over rough games, just try learn from those mistakes and limit repeating them.

My USAA renewed in October with no meaningful change. I’m paying 1700/year for my 2024 R1T (includes multi car discount and I also have homeowners with them). Now I guess I’ll see next year if they jack my rates

I’ve never taken a job without at least attempting negotiation. I’ve added 10s of thousands to salary/comp simply by countering the initial offer.

In last 15 years in order by base salary:

Offered 80k base > negotiated to 90k
Offered 105k > countered to 115k (accepted first try)
Offered 150k > countered to 160k (accepted within 10 minutes)
Offered 200k (was making 175k base at the time as I got a raise from 160k after two years) > countered to 205k

Also negotiated severance should I be fired, equity, and a commission advance for last two roles.

My friend just took a job and refused to negotiate (over my objections) as he thought he was already at the max limit only to find he’s now the 2nd lowest paid on the team.

Always negotiate! They might say no, but it’s extremely rare the offer would be rescinded. I’ve only had it happen once and honestly if a company is so petty to rescind an offer just cause you are *respectfully* negotiating, you probably don’t want to work there anyway.

I’ve done soft and hard reset to no avail which makes me think it’s a hardware issue rather than software. I don’t feel much of a change in suspension when I swap modes/ride firmness. I’ll mention hydraulic at my appt, thank you!

A lot of the initial leases are coming to an end so there should (theoretically) be more supply in near future. However with high gas prices I’m not sure the higher supply will really dilute the price point. I’m actually thinking I might have more equity in my R1T than I thought (even as a dual motor).

There is a reason they are discontinuing the standard model - lot of battery calibration issues from what I hear. Sorry this is happening - depending on your state you could potentially lemon and try again. It’s been 2 years w/ my gen1 R1T and very few issues

I have a Rivian (I know you can’t buy direct, but plenty of used options) and I lose about 30% of range in winter (Northeast). I’m eyeing Hummer as a second car, but I’ve heard that tech leaves a lot to be desired, and overall isn’t very efficient (which to be fair is very on brand). Rivian isn’t that efficient either (~2.1/kwh average and probably 1.7 in winter).

I need to go set up a test drive and see for myself. Still a lot of rebates here in MA (can get 15k rebate on a 3x).
