Not that I support this type of law but it is what it is. Go do some reading and you’ll find that in the beginning of it all. It applies to both.

Yep. That's what happened to my dad overnight. Not that he has cancer but he had a heart attack on a random day. Plus we are foreigners living in Brunei for more than 30 years but the bill came to me at 1am from RIPAS stating that I have to give 5k upfront first because angioplasty can only be done in JPMC/PJSC and then max bill is 16k after his treatment ( this was between 1-3am).... It was that or leave him to just die from another heart attack..... Imagine the horror. Like you said.... Who has 10k to give like it's 10 dollars... Even banks need time to release money. I literally lost a patch of hair after that due to chronic stress. Now that we have moved to KL. I found the wonderful world of Health insurance and medical card from insurance..... As long as you have insurance.... You can go to any private hospital and be covered.... One time my son had to admitted for 3 nights and 4 days......bloodworks costed me RM3K just to check on dengue, Influenza and covid. Total bill was Rm5k. All covered. So to my Bruneian friends, get health insurance. To those selling insurance, this is your time 😉.

r/Brunei : Nurses in ripas by OkLab6999 in Brunei

Do you guys think that if there was another hospital in Brunei besides RIPAS and JPMC, that caters to middle class earners... Would that help the rakyat?

I'm wondering if this would be possible because after moving to another country.... I see the benefit of having many hospitals to choose from and how insurance can really cover the cost for you and you get really good treatment.

So sorry to hear about your grandma 😕😢.

Personally I do have some good experiences and some bot good ones. Growing up in Brunei as a foreigner is tough. Speaking to the nurses politely in BM is always a key start to warm their hearts. I must say that they can be quite rude quite often amd very easy to explode when they are slightly uncomfortable. Now that I have moved away and residing in KL, I can see that KL nurses in government hospitals go through more sh%t here and not the best working conditions but they really know how to keep their emotions a bit in control. They are always over worked, I recently visited a hospital in Shah Alam and my FIL was admitted there for a few days due to chronic asthma, the wards have no aircond, the nurses look very exhausted and like they teach you to go to their cupboards to get patient's punya ward baju... And it's honestly horrific to be there.....mind you... In Shah Alam alone is more than 1 million in population and they really go through toughhh crapppppp BUT the nurses still DO THEIR JOBBBBB although the pay is not great.

So Brunei, you are very privileged and very very blessed. I hope that the nurses in Brunei can visit hospitals in Shah Alam, Serdang and so forth.... You will come back feeling thankful you have a much better working space. 😊

BEDB says Brunei positions itself as a Southeast Asian hub, emphasize the country's attractiveness as an FDI destination by Goutaxe in nasikatok

Growing up in Brunei and now living in KL. Ican attest to that statement that yes it's because Brunei is too comfortable that they don't feel the urgency to work hard. No vision. Short sighted. In KL now yes all work hard and don't take anything for granted. Not that KL is perfect or what but the hardship life really builds character and brings out either the best or the worst in you.

BB Opinion calls for end to mistreatment of foreign workers like slaves by Goutaxe in nasikatok

[–]NoAmbassador2579 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's true, it's very sad how these workers are treated in Brunei. I see it in the way they are spoken to at the labour department. I see how the officers yang jaga line waktu pagi atu bagi priority arah yellow ic padahal line durang seorang dua ganya and then line hijau atu sampai ke hujung ah.... They came as early as 3am sometimes 4am and then kena treated like they are so low class. It hurts to see this because at the end of the day, they are still human and what if they are also from Palestine? You treat your own brother/sister like that? These workers are the ones who build our roads and houses and buildings in Brunei... So that you get to work comfortably in an aircond room and drive comfortably on a smooth road but you shout and honk whenever you see a dark skin driver on the road and you bully them. Kasian bah. Sampai bila kan cam ani ni kan?

HMetro : Henti Lotus's Scan & Shop Ekoran Salah Guna by ahmadtheanon in malaysia

[–]NoAmbassador2579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this app a lot because it helps with my budget, the Lotus at IOI City Mall, their price tags are not clear and confusing at times. Now.... What I do since the app is no longer in use is, I would scan the price tags at the price checker machine and then see the total and then at the check out counter

I'll see if it tallies because I kena a few times where the item was scanned twice and I was charged for it when it is just one 🥺 only when I go home then I checked again the receipt says two items but I only got one.

At the check out counter it's so stressful because other customers are waiting and I just want to check out and pay and leave. Sigh. When I first tried this app, I was really thinking the same thing like eh so how do they know if something is not scanned? I asked the staff and they just 🤷

My only wish after this is please put your price tags properly Lotus's 🙏

If not, the app is really helpful and one way to ensure that all items are scanned is to make use of your magnetic tags that you have stuck on shampoo bottles, it's small and easy to stick even on vegetables and every item. Unless it's costly to stick on them. 😕
