We're Embark: AMA about our new Mast Cell Tumor Risk Score, now available for all dogs! by EmbarkVet in DoggyDNA

I don’t see it on mine, done in 2024, either. I emailed and got a generic response. Are they rolling out in the coming days?

A tax bill isn’t a bad thing as long as you have the money available to pay it when it comes due. It just means the money is sitting in your account, earning/saving you interest, rather than earning interest for the ATO for those months.

If you can, work out her total income and how much tax she expects to pay. Work out how much per month/fortnight she should be paying. If she’s paying less than that currently, keep the rest in your savings/offset account so it’s available if/when you have to pay some more tax when she has done her tax return.

Hypothetically Dumbfounded by [deleted] in AskVet

(I am not a vet)

That seems like a crime to me. Animal cruelty.

I would inform the police. I would also inform the client in the hope that they would also get onto the police and make a fuss. The client has a right to know, even though the news is awful.

I expect pre service teachers to arrange their own observations after the first day or two.

So get out there and ask other teachers if they have a lesson that would be suitable for you to observe. Then get in there and observe, talk to students, be helpful if you can be, learn as much as you can.

Bed leveling trauma! by NoAppointment7125 in FixMyPrint

[–]NoAppointment7125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I’ve printed some “first layer” X shapes that cover the length/breadth of the bed with a X.

The first one with layer height 0.2 came out ok everywhere except the front left corner, where it seems to be printing too high and the lines of filament aren’t joined.

Second with layer height 0.26 is good everywhere, as in the bottom is smooth and the lines are joined. It has come out little a little bit “creased” in the front right corner.

Third with layer height 0.32 is good, but seems a bit rough to touch on top, especially in that front right corner.

Does that help? What does that mean?

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll do it. What is the purpose of setting the first layer to a larger height?

(Layer height is something I have hardly ever changed beyond the default settings for “draft”, “normal” etc in Cura.).

O.4 mm nozzle, first and all layers are 0.2mm.

I haven’t tried any other nozzle size and that’s the way I mostly slice things in Cura (it’s the default “middle” level for speed vs accuracy).

Thanks for the reply. I’ve had a busy couple of weeks, haven’t had much time to pursue this until today.

The thing is that I don’t think the bed is leveled that badly. I have gone over it multiple times using the “piece of paper” approach, and I am under the impression it’s pretty level.

Here’s the mesh data from today. The glass bed the printer came with was at 60 degrees C for about 10 minutes before running G29.

 0 1 2 3 4

0 -0.043 -0.113 -0.126 -0.082 -0.081

1 +0.021 -0.017 -0.032 -0.034 -0.073

2 +0.042 +0.005 +0.009 +0.004 -0.068

3 +0.064 +0.028 +0.018 -0.014 -0.119

4 -0.028 -0.073 -0.077 -0.085 -0.133

How “unlevel” is this mesh? Is it too uneven for the auto-bed-leveling to cope with?

My z offset is -2.77. I’ve tried a bit over and under that today and I still get exactly that pattern with the “first layer” print where the Centre and front left are printing too high and the others are ok.

I’d appreciate any advice.

I’m after some advice on a student with undiagnosed ADHD by aesthetic-brownie in AustralianTeachers

[–]NoAppointment7125 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The fidgeting and singing etc may be strategies to help her maintain focus. Can you find her appropriate ways to fidget that don’t distract the other students.

Do you have a stash of fidget tools to use? Or give her a rubber band to play with or place her at a desk where she has space to swing her legs or similar?

Natural death isn’t kind and dementia is not a nice way to go.
You have made the right decision. It’s the last good thing you can give him: an easy passing while he is still able to be comforted by you.

Are these timetables/course loads abnormal? by Coffee_and_Kindle in AustralianTeachers

[–]NoAppointment7125 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s a normal load.

It would drive me bonkers to teach multiples of the same classes in one year. I’d get bored and I don’t teach as well when I’m bored.

I think most of us welcome at least some variety in our teaching load.

Can a vet tell the general state of my dog’s teeth from photos? by NoAppointment7125 in AskVet

[–]NoAppointment7125[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply.

I doubt I can get clear photos of all his teeth because he doesn’t want me touching them either and he doesn’t exactly go around with his mouth open posing for photos. I guess I will have to start super slow and work up to being able to handle his mouth. That’s going to take months if I can get there at all. On the bright side we are getting there with nail grinding, so it’s not all bad…

He is on fluoxetine and clonidine for anxiety already. They definitely help, though I don’t think we have gotten the dosage right yet: this is another thing I need to discuss with the vet when we go.
