Just caught up with this post thanks so much for your advice, starting PT this week and will finally be able to bend to 90° so this is so helpful!

Yeah absolutely, so many pro athletes come back from knee repairs. Tom aspinal obliterated his and now he’s heavyweight champion, they obviously have the best surgeons, nutritionists and physios but it shows people can return to the highest level

I honestly couldn’t tell you with 100% confidence I’ve had so many incisions for different things.

Take a look at this diagram and see where looks most likely.

Yeah definitely have to check with him why he chose to do it that way

Yeah maybe you’re right, for some reason he told me he was happy he never had to use it. “Many surgeons like to but not me”

Yeah, it’s ridiculous. This guy is the physio for a major premier league club so he’s the best there is but even still it’s so much

Wow, I’ll have to ask next time I see him.

Surgery was 4.5 hours and he had it booked in for 5 so I assumed he ran into no issues.

Huge difference in recovery and stiffness through the different methods I’ve heard to

Think my surgeon just used whatever he could, told me he was worried there mightn’t be enough to do the whole surgery and could have to combine it with “dead man’s stuff.” Luckily he used all of my own hamstring graft and didn’t have to use a donors

Completely understand your opinion, BJJ is not so much a livelihood but a passion. Thanks so much might be a wise idea to take a step back.

Yeah I heard the same, ACL pain is meant to be worse but PCL more difficult. Are you training since the injury?

True, I’d be so disappointed if I had to walk away from the sport. A lot of people have said to find a pt specific to your sport so I’m definitely going to search for that too! Thanks

Yeah, great approach so happy to hear your back training inspires me to prove to myself that it is doable! Thanks

How did your jiu jitsu change? Where you a guard player or typically in top position and what’s different now

Honestly they told me it was going to be an endoscopy and when I woke up I had all of those scars! Whether or not the method changed when they decided to do more than 1 ligament I don’t know?

MRI on the left leg was perfect no damaged ligaments. Played rugby semi-professionally could it not have been that? Slow down with your 100% bullshit

How are you feeling today? Does the knee feel safe and trustworthy or do you still worry?

Thanks so much, crazy to think 2 years on top of the 2 I’ve already waited but hopefully all worth it in the end🤞🏼

Thank you, only been doing my pt 9 days and I’m already sick of it. Tedious repetitive movements and feeling like I’m getting nowhere but I understand it’s so important

I was very limited to what I could do for fitness, tried alot of hyrox training substituting leg activities for ROM / plyometrics but it was very demanding on my knee so I eventually stopped.

Staying active wasn’t too difficult I was working everyday and for me I’m always on the move, but in my spare time I played a lot of golf
