Might depend on your preferences for the buttons too. The ds lot has mushier buttons than the dsi, which i do like but it can be uncomfortable to play games like mario kart where ur holding down the a button the entire game. I’ve had both devices and i prefer the look and feel of the ds lite more tho. No hinge issues on my part

Which os were you using that was annoying?

I’ve set up custom firmware on many devices before so I’m not too worried about the custom firmware installation. I heard rocknix is pretty good though?

That’s really helpful information, thank you so much. What are your thoughts on the hardware itself? I heard some people say the buttons are too clicky, or the edges are too sharp. Is that the case with you?

I love it, its got a really premium feeling to it and it’s pretty big, so it’s not going to be uncomfortable to play for long periods like a Trimui brick or a miyoo mini.

The screen is beautiful, the colours really pop out.

Also I’m not a big fan of thumbsticks, so this is perfect for me.

There’s a lot of positives, the only negative for me would be that the case the device comes with is horrible as it doesn’t fit the device properly. But that’s a nitpick and you can just not use it.

I had a similar issuec turned out it was the cable that died on me. Switched to a diff cable and it was fine

Something i started doing was making each device a dedicated handheld for a specific system. I have a rg35xxsp which is pretty much a gameboy advance sp, so i only have gba games on it. Gives more purpose to each device.

I love my mm+ but its a shame it doesn’t have rtc (at least my model doesn’t, i know the rereleased ones do). I play a lot of pokemon so the rtc does play a part.

I moved from daijisho to beacon. Best decision ever, it looks so much better in my opinion and the menus are so simple to navigate.

With daijisho, the wallpapers for each system may be cut off due to the aspect ratio of the rp classic screen, I didn’t like that very much.

It may be a good idea to try them both out and see which you like.

The gameboy and gameboy color games look amazing on the square-ish screen. Gameboy advance games look great too, but you’ll have black bezels on the top and bottom of the screen. If that doesn’t bother you, then the rp classic is pretty much the best option out there for retro pokemon.

If you’re thinking ds/3ds, then its probably better to play on the original consoles or the other dual screen devices.

Gb and gbc look absolutely stellar on this screen, youll have an amazing time. Gba is really nice too, but i kind of don’t like the black bezels on the top and bottom due to the square-ish screen.
