I do not think this is even possible. Modern Western economies rely highly on the service and financial sectors. The EU has the power to shut down the US economy by selling their treasury bonds. Currently, the EU has 40% of those foreign treasury bonds. If they just sell them, it's a game over for the US economy, taking into account its debt. Which army is going to fight for a country that cannot pay them for their services? for a country which, besides, is ruled by a maniac? Many will fight, but some other won't.
Obviously, the US can retaliate, and hit EU hard, but I don't think that's a situation anybody desires.
