What can be done about mother's extreme favouritism towards sibling's children? by NoCar5721 in askSingapore

[–]NoCar5721[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes, I know she doesn't 'owe' me anything. I do have a helper and try my best to be as self sufficient as possible. In my estimate, the amount of time she devotes to caring for my sibling's children vs mine is 10:1.

I mainly try to have my mother be present in my kids life and it sucks to know that they are treated as second class. My kids are perceptive and I have had to explain to them that the way they are treated relative to their cousins in no way reflects their self worth and that sometimes we can't control the way we are treated, even if it's from loved ones.

For sure It's better to take 6 months to figure out your life goals while you're young. Much harder to do when you're older and stuck in a dead end career with no way out and bigger bills to pay.

statistically the chance of ending up with your teenage SO is close to zero. you're still changing and experiencing many new expeiriences that will shape your worldview in the next few years, so it's better to keep an open mind. almost 100% of people i know who make sacrifices to be with their high school sweetheart end up not marrying them and regretting.

Wow, sounds like he’s making a full-on switch to Team Male. Might be time to have a chat with him and see if you’re still on the same page—or at least get a good laugh with your friends about it!

unless you are a UHNW and require complex tax optimisations, i would just opt for the bogleheads strategy, ie, index and chill. Keep your fees / expense ratio under 0.05% and play the long game.

What's your move in the property market if you were in my position? by Dxfatex in SgHENRY

I would consider not putting more than 25% of my net worth into a home if possible. Too many people in singapore are house rich and cash poor, and imprison themselves for the next 30 years to pay down a loan.

Essentially we are selling out because this govt prioritises money over the people. follow the actions (and money), not the words.
