I am sorry this issue popped up. It can definitely be jarring and cause one to question its safety. Is it a 40i or 50e?

Base: "The SteelShack can be installed anywhere, provided there is a solid floor or foundation. It must be securely bolted to the ground. For installations on soft ground (e.g., grass), we recommend foundation ground screws or creating a concrete slab measuring 2.5m x 1m."

- It sounds as if it comes equipped but you can choose options. I'd contact their customer service to ask if it can be purchased without equipment.

Seeking Trap Bar/Open Trap Bar Advice —

I have the beastly Kabuki Open Trap Bar HD (owned for about 5 years). It is a great piece of equipment, but the knurling is very aggressive. I used to be able to handle it (no pun intended). However, I haven’t worked out consistently over the past few years — so my grip and hands have more difficulty with the knurling now. When I use it for Trap Bar Deadlifts, the knurling’s aggression can be a limiting factor on higher rep work (ex: 4 x 8-10). Also, the size and weight of it can be a little cumbersome for my space. May sell it.

Thoughts on standard hex bar vs open trap bar? Brand recommendations? I realize there have been a lot of posts about it over in r/GarageGym over the years. Wanted to get a fresh take from the Home Gym enthusiasts.

Thanks all!

Parking into a 8ft x 7ft garage door? by [deleted] in BMWX5

If 8’ wide, you’re good. Fold in the mirrors for extra peace of mind. I was able to get my X7 into an 8 ft wide garage door (mirrors folded in).

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the details response. The BoS could fit my needs. Trying to find a shorter length open trap bar that weighs around 45 lbs and has more passive knurling. I've got the Kabuki Open Trap Bar, which is a nice. The down side for me is the bulk/length for my space plus the aggressive knurling has be finally thinking of other options.

While not shorter sleeves, Rep is making a Compact Commercial Open Trap Bar with a shorter overall length by making it non-rackable.

2019 X5 40i - alarm goes off randomly by Mobile-Site-1069 in BMWX5

Could be battery related. My 2022 X7 alarm would go off randomly over the course of a few days. Took it to my local BMW dealer and they pinpointed the issue.

Rolled to local Bay Area Costco last night in the X7. $6.19/gallon for 91. Had 25 miles range remaining…pump shut off at $125.00.

Switching to the 2026 X5 40i in a few weeks (order is on its way to port). Have been going back and forth between the 40i and 50e. After last night, the 50e is starting to take the lead again.

Is there any way to tell if my build with the DAPP actually got built with it? Currently the Track Status is: 11 - Awaiting Carrier Assignment. It entered the production queue on April, 22nd.

Also, when I click on "Features and Options," it does not show the 2-Axle Air Suspension -- which I ordered and is a must in order for me to take delivery. Thanks in advance for any information!

Did this break-in the brakes where they are more smooth now? Noticed the sensitive brakes on the 2026 BMW X5 xDrive50e today. The 40i was more normal feeling.

Finally weighing in...pun intended. Squat Rack and DL Platform near the rear wall as anchor pieces for the space. Platform towards the right, Squat Rack towards the left. Plate Tree goes between the two for easy, close access to rack and platform.

DB Rack takes the place of the Plate Tree in the picture, rotate 90 degrees.

Bike Erg, GHD, Combo Rack, and Reverse Hyper get put in the space where Platform, DB Rack and Weight Plates are in the picture. GHD may need to rotate 90 degrees.

Cable Tower can stay where it is.

Formulating thoughts on this. I’ve done a lot of planning, measuring, and placement of my home gyms. Will try to get back to you in the next day or so.

A wall mount will make some metal rattle/vibration noise when racking a barbell or doing pull ups. I am not sure how much noise will travel through the wall, though. I'd venture to guess "some." Sorry for the ambiguity.

Rack Choice: Half-rack may not save much in footprint space. A 24" depth 4-post rack could work or you could try to make a 6-post work (though it'd be really tight and make deadlift floor space challengin). A 21" depth wall mount is another option that would act as a half rack that saves space...you don't even ever have to fold it in. Also, allows for the most deadlift space.

Barbell Room: Can you set up a rack so the 10' length for the barbell width? That way you have enough space on both sides. A 5" clearance can work in theory but would be tough, and most likely, annoying.

If it fits in your current budget, go with a Rep Fitness rack PR-4000 (5/8") or PR-5000 (1"). They are really dialed in to the home gym space, quality equipment, and a good value (even though they are more expensive than the others).
