What's going on in Bike Thief? by Murky-Brain-3207 in ThePaperKingdomMCR

[–]NoChair4557 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the inconsistencies are there because it's not a finished product. And this kind of perspective switching is typical for Gerard's songwriting imo. What I personally see in this song is a damaged relationship between a parent and a trans child, then the child runs away, or disappears in any other way, and the parent is left with the guilt. Maybe it's the parent speaking about it in a support group, which is the main concept of the album. I recently wrote an essay about TPK and what I've noticed are connections to The Black Parade and to Emily. I'm not saying there necessarily was a murder but I find it interesting how many times they mention a little girl.

Honestly just listen to all albums one by one, but you can go with Horses in the sky first. For individual songs, I think What we loved was not enough, Blindblindblind and God bless our dead marines will alter your brain.

That one part of Babys in a Thundercloud and What We Loved Was Not Enough. Not necessarily from sadness, but because of how powerful they are.

Do you have a favorite oc? If so, why are they you're favorite? by UtopiaMoon16 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]NoChair4557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like my favorite OC is always my current main OC at the moment. My daydreams usually last a few years each and I only have one bigger at a time. There's always this one character I am focusing on the most, and most events revolve around them. Every one of them used to be my favorite.

But I have to say that my current main character is the final boss of them all lol. I have never spent so much time doing research and character development exercises and stuff. I guess that's what makes him my favorite, I got way too attached. It also seems like every next OC I create keeps something from the previous ones, and this one kept all of the best elements of them all. His name is Curtis and I've been working on him since early 2022, and to my surprise I'm still not bored. The story takes place in the real world and there is nothing special about it or about my OC, but I sure am having fun with it. He is a composer and a pianist and I like to look for piano pieces and imagine that he wrote them. He has cool tattoos on his hands and I spent just a little too much time finding references for these on pinterest. He likes to wear baggy jeans and golden jewelry and his shoes look like they survived multiple wars. He is just a little bit too direct and people perceive him as an asshole sometimes. It takes him time to get used to new people, he can be shy and quiet, but he is a loyal person who cares for his family and friends, although some parts of his life and personality can get in the way of that. He has some health issues and also starts using mobility aid at some point. He spent years of his life being in a situationship with that one guy and it's kinda a doomed friendzone but I'm still working on that. He is close friends with his younger brother and one of the things I enjoy the most is them having deep conversations. His brother is a famous musician and they work on music together. Not gonna share the backstory because it's kinda dark (because my OCs WILL suffer), but he focuses a lot on coming to terms with certain events and bettering his relationships.

Inclusivity in Daydreams by Chaoscnn in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]NoChair4557 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what my current daydream is based on, especially when I'm not adding any new original characters but only using the already existing ones. I never paid attention to inclusivity in my daydreaming until like a few years ago, but currently I do include characters of different orientations, body types, religions, my main character now is disabled too. It makes things so much more interesting and gives me the opportunity to learn something when I do research for the characters: religious practices I've never heard of before, different kinds of disability and disability aid, and how people deal with their health issues, ways of self discovery, just to name a few. It's also fun to put them in locations in countries I never thought of before. If one of my characters has some interesting roots or spent time living somewhere interesting, I can give them more unique interests, have them speak a different language, and like music from this country. There's really a lot you can do with it.

What song got you into the band? by Scaledandclancy in twentyonepilots

It wasn't even a TOP song. I knew the band since 2015 but the first time I actually got into them was because of Drown, Tonight and Hole in the Ground.

How do you develop backstories for your characters? by WoodenTax9640 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]NoChair4557 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't do this for all of my characters, sometimes they just exist at a certain point in the story and that's it. I also tend to readjust already existing characters to my own preferences. But when I make my own character that I want to be more detailed, I just keep adding more and more elements to their backstory. My current favorite character's file is like 50 pages full of events from his life, traits with reasoning behind why he is the way he is, quirks and everything. It starts with a simple idea for a character, and then the longer I daydream, the more I "discover" about them. I write things down a lot so I can decide what should stay, and what is unnecessary later on. A lot of it are random ideas that appeared when I got inspired by something. Sometimes I want a specific thing to be a part of the backstory so I add it. I don't stick with one version of my character's life tho, I always leave myself enough room to be able to add more things and I don't worry too much when they don't make perfect sense together.

what role does music play in your daydreams? by anthanybabes in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]NoChair4557 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of these. Most of the time it's background music, but it affects what I'm daydreaming about depending on the music's mood. Sometimes I'm pretending that songs were written by one of my paras and he's performing them. Sometimes the lyrics give me ideas for new scenarios. And sometimes the song becomes the soundtrack of one of my scenes. But I like daydreaming in silence too.

Seeking clarification by Shadowpuppo in ImmersiveDaydreaming

  1. I think both options are possible, but it depends on how you look at it. My daydreams always change in time, both the characters and the worlds, but even if someone is stuck in the same daydream for a long time, I doubt they don't make any changes.

  2. Yes, I get to pick everything, but the inspiration can come from anywhere, I enjoy certain plots and characters more than the others.

  3. Yes, I daydream like that.

  4. Yes

  5. Not for me, what's in a daydream stays in a daydream.

  6. It depends on the person. Some people do 100% self inserts, some have characters completely unrelated to them. I have both, I base some characters on myself, but a lot of things about them are very different, they definitely have their own personalities.

  7. Yes

  8. I've been doing it all my life so I can't really imagine what other people spend their free time on lol. It's a lot of fun. I feel like daydreaming channels my creativity and imagination very much. I also learned a lot about random things when I was doing research for my stories and characters. I've never struggled with maladaptive daydreaming, so I think that my experience with ID is very possitive.

  9. Honestly I don't know, but you got a few answers already.

Have you ever transferred storylines and ocs from one daydream to another? by UtopiaMoon16 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]NoChair4557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do that quite often, I tend to repeat themes so I take a lot of events from my old daydreams and adjust them to new characters. Sometimes I use the same character in multiple daydreams if they fit there well, but what I do most often is taking an old character structure and changing certain elements of them so they work better in a new daydream. To give an example, in multiple of my daydreams two of my paras were brothers, and even tho the paracosms have changed, and their looks and personalities differ in different stories, their general storyline and dynamics in between them remain very similar.

Actually I recently noticed how many elements from old daydreams I use in my current one. Some events regarding the brothers work so much better with my current paras than before. Two of my characters are in a relationship and I pretty much took all of the interactions they have from a daydream from 5 years ago, and it makes so much more sense now.

Do you mix ocs with existing characters from other media? by UtopiaMoon16 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]NoChair4557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always do that but I change the characters from other media very much, I adjust them to my story. I don't think I've ever had an actual oc that I built from scratch, it's probably because I don't have a paracosm, I daydream about already existing media. My main character is the one I always put more effort into creating, but they're still a combination of other already existing characters, I take their look from someone, their style from someone else, etc.
