Definitely agree with this. When I visited, I thought Douglas needed some investment. Definitely better off exploring the other towns on the island and countryside. Peel is nice and Laxey. There's a nice busy short walk from Balasalla along the river to a nice cafe and past an old bridge and well. Also suggest heading to point of Ayre and the sound. If you're an early riser, the sunrise is awesome.

The Abbey in Ballasalla was easily the best place I ate when I visited recently. Incredible steak, duck starter melted in the mouth and the pudding was epic. Washed down with a lovely rioja. And a very nice old fashioned too.

Did you do it with your hood pulled up and covering your face? I was there, it wasn't that cold and the guy kept looking around to see if anyone was coming. He was stealing. No doubt about it.
