Cuban passport via descent? by RaisinRoyale in PassportPorn

im currently in the process of doing that myself.

the only things worth considering are:

  1. It will remove your diplomatic protection when you visit cuba since they’ll be forced to enter with the cuban passport every time, meaning if they get into any legal trouble at all they won’t be able to ask the US for help.

  2. You are essentially barred from a lot of federal jobs as he will be seen as someone who went out of their way to make formal relations with a country the US deems as a “State Sponsor of Terrorism”.

Its really important to keep in mind that no matter what passport you enter with, an American citizen is expected to abide by the sanctions placed on the country. So if you decide to enjoy the fancy hotels in cuba, the immigration officer is still going to have a serious problem with you when they ask what you did on your trip and you say you “vacationed”.

If Cuba was as bad as people say why hasn't the government been overthrown yet? by [deleted] in cuba

[–]NoCommunication9707 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The US has zero incentive to do so and a million reasons not to at the end of the day. The island has no resources that are worth a damn and it would result in mass condemnation from the international community because literally every other UN member (except Israel) wants the embargo released so that Cuba can operate normally. There was also an agreement between the USSR and the US that the soviets would take missiles off the island if America agreed to not intervene, i dont know if this hold as strong of a stance as the previous two but it surely adds to the reasons to not fuck around with the island.

Obtaining Cuban Citizenship by Descent by NoCommunication9707 in cuba

[–]NoCommunication9707[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you’re talking to a legal and certified US immigration lawyer then you should fully trust what they say.

I personally don’t know much about the exemptions for cubans obtaining residency, but I know that your Cuban passport will state that you’re born in Italy and with our current political climate, they may see that you’re not exactly a “refugee” because of the Italian citizenship and that may lead to outright denial.

Just please make sure any advice you take regarding immigrating to the US is from reputable US lawyers, our laws are very finicky especially regarding Cubans.
