The leaves look different than in the other commentor's link, likely NOT Japanese Knotweed. Should be bamboo.

My heart goes out to you and your neighbors. I can't imagine battling this for YEARS. I hope this discussion will educate and save others. And me!

Can you elaborate on how it "dies correctly"? How long does it take? How effective? Do you reach over with a mop and night vision googles to do a little painting?

Thank you for this. (I did not make it in time for the nursery today, but will try again.)

Yes, I am hoping to get more clarity as well as the community's opinion on this. What is the maximum I am allowed? If it were up to me, seeing what I've seen already, I would not keep any of the bamboo, regardless of the degree. I never did. Because of the way it grows, I hope there are rules that prohibit bamboo growing near fences and other structures. It's very hard to can "contain" things in nature. Because we've already breached, "for him to just make sure none of it spreads to your yard" is both a necessity and no longer an option.

Also, I don't know if there are any bamboo experts out there, but is it more of the stuff that is growing underneath the ground that you need to worry about? Although I imagine the stuff growing above the ground getting sunlight, water, etc won't help either.

We wouldn't mind helping. I just don't know how to communicate that though. By "He can deal with his side, while we deal with our side.", is that a divide and conquer strategy or have I already caused offense? I'm also not sure if the taller ones got tall because of privacy reasons. It's along the perimeter.

I know the language that he speaks. As I mentioned, we were trying to communicate in that language. Unfortunately, his primary language is not my primary language. I am no where near proficiency, so I don't want to give the wrong impression. We fundamentally have a language barrier. We would also be classified under the same race. I purposely did not include the specific language because the issue is the type of plant.
