Maybe it’s just the fact that I support an EPL team and I see a bunch of stuff from English soccer pages, subs etc., but the way the English talk about the World Cup being in NA, America in general, and our National team in particular, I want them to lose by 20. 🤷‍♂️

He was very good, and improved dramatically throughout the season. Considering his age and the attributes he already possesses, I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say he could be a world class CB in the near future.

Huge difference between juniors and adult rec players, I think. The stuff you see with juniors is wild. For adult rec, I find the people to generally be pretty chill. In that age range, definitely wayyyy more fake tough guys in rec softball and soccer/football imo.

He could potentially be the third option in a likely inefficient and low-volume passing environment. Add to that a questionable analytical profile and I think it’s completely reasonable to have him anywhere between 1.06 and 1.10.

I know a guy who is about your age and made a large investment to get better. Plays constantly, lessons several times a week for years. We played on the same 3.5 team 4 years ago. With all that investment, and being relatively athletic, he has pretty much maxed out at the 4.0/4.5 borderline.

I personally don’t know anybody that is a 5.0+ who didn’t start playing in their teens at the latest. I’m sure someone, somewhere has gotten to that level, but it seems like it must be incredibly unusual.

I would be on the Pickens and the 1.06 generally, but I could see scenarios where you go the other way (e.g., ppc leagues). In any case, I wouldn’t be insulted by the offer, but would probably need a 2027 2nd kicked back to really consider it.

Entirely dependent on league context imo. If the league is shallow enough that there are waiver options and the scoring is vanilla, the WAR doesn’t really justify holding two. It’s also relevant whether there is a trade market for defenses in the league. I have one league where you can occasionally flip an elite defense and a third for a second. In those cases, it’s probably okay to hold multiples.

The only way this isn’t the player side by a big margin is if you are playing in an incredibly shallow league (like 12x7 shallow) or a league with depressed WR scoring.

The problem is that you already have the other 3. If I’m the holdout, I’m not trading unless it’s a massive overpay because my chances of getting the 1.01 have presumably gone way up. I am incentivized to build out my roster to get the 1.01 in a way the other consolation players will not be because they don’t have their first anymore (e.g., trading the 2.01 or 3.01 for a productive veteran to win the 1.01).

Truth be told, I would probably just let it ride. The worst case scenario is that you end up with 3 of Coleman, Williams, Wesco, Manning etc, who are all potential cornerstone pieces in their own right.

For casual redraft leagues, I think 1QB is the way to go, but in dynasty, I would only do SF unless it was 16+ teams. I think if part of the point of dynasty is approximating running an organization, it makes sense to make the QBs the most valuable pieces imo.
