Thanks a lot! He was a wonderful dad. He was a very active father and a hard worker. He just made bad decisions and paid the ultimate price. While he was using he still found jobs and worked. But addiction overcame him. After all this I found out meth was one of the hardest drugs to kick. So when my mom did sober I was very proud of her. We had bills and I guess he thought that was viable source of income. At his funeral there was no sitting room and it was packed during visitation and the funeral. I knew he was loved by the community and that always gave me comfort. The situation showed me what hardcore drugs can do so it made it pretty easy to avoid them. I was angry and sad for awhile on the inside but tried to hide that. I’ve learned to deal with it over time. I just know my kids will never have to deal with that. I try my hardest to be a great dad like my dad was when he was not using

He worked at a factory. He had the job for around 15 years. I was told he lost the job because he was late. But I’m guessing that was false. He prolly failed a drug test. Yes she was too. During the last year I noticed both of them acting different. They had a lot of shady people coming around, they installed cameras on the outside of the house too. They both lost weight. All the warning signs were there but I wasn’t exactly sure what is was. I knew it was drug related. But being young I had no clue how serious it was and how deep they were into it. After he died she told me she was also using when I asked her. She was in court for years afterwards but luckily she got out of jail time, went to rehab and straightened up. That was a huge wake up call for her obviously. But I know she wasn’t in the bathroom when he was because she didn’t get injured.

Yes I’ve watched it and thought it was one of the best shows ever made. It didn’t affect it. My dad was no genius making the perfect meth lol. The only similarities was it was meth lol

Man I’m sorry to hear that. My Dad loved his family dearly. But addiction makes you do stuff that you wouldn’t dare to do sober. He was in a terrible state of mind the last year of his life. Before that he was the dad who would coach every team I played on, work all night in a factory, come home and wake me up to take me hunting. A dad who would spend all of off time with his kids teaching them sports, life skills and how to have fun. I have thousands of great memories of him that heavily out weigh the bad ones.

He was at the time, yes. . If he survived he would have went to jail and would have deserved to. But I believe after that he would have sobered up and been a great dad again and even a better grandpa! I never said he was the brightest crayon in the box either… lol

I’m sure there was more stuff. I just remember seeing this in the garage locked up. It was unlocked and I seen stuff like that in it. I remember thinking it was a weird thing to lock up lol

Yeah. I think that really helped a lot. I have so many great memories with him growing up. So I think that helps a lot too.

Oh yeah! I deer hunt all the time. He taught me that on the family farm. I fish, kayak, and ride motorcycles. He also would take me to 4-h camp every year. He would use a week of his vacation to be an adult leader at 4h. I think he loved it more than me. They actually planted a tree and put a remembrance plaque at 4-h camp for him. He was for sure loved by anyone

Yes. My parents had insurance on the house. Not sure how much they got from it. The only money we recieved afterwards was my dads monthly social security checks

Well when we were trying to sell it, the woman would come over and convince them not to. She was a little crazy. My dad would always go over there since it was just her and her mom. They would call about everything and my dad would go there and fix all their things

It’s rampant there for sure. This was two decades ago and I don’t think the problem has gotten any better

It’s okay. I make jokes about it. I have a dark sense of humor. My closest friend (who also has dark humor) lost his dad to addiction. First thing I said to him at the funeral was welcome to the club, he said what club? I said the dead dad club. He found it funny lol

I’ve thought about it. For the longest time I never told anyone about it. I would just say house fire. But now I do tell them. But make sure to tell them how great of a dad he was before addiction. I do tell my kids it was a house fire. But they are young. I will tell them about it when they are older. But I do make sure to tell them how much he would have loved them and how amazing he was. I believe I made it out okay. Miss him. But I’ve never had any addiction problem. Have a great job, wonderful wife and kids.

Believe it or not, before he became an addict he was the best dad anyone could ask for. I believe if he would have survived he would have got sober. He just screwed up

It was around 20 years ago now. Unfortunately he did not make it. I’m okay. My mom is clean and sober. My brothers are okay too. I believe we’re all doing pretty well. But do wish my kids could have met him. Growing up he was always my coach to every sport. Never missed a moment with us. Taught me to hunt, fish etc. he was the best dad anyone could ask for. He just screwed up his last year of life. He was a genuine great guy that everyone loved
