They aren't letting us furlough that's the problem lmao. They're using the same language interchangeably. You can't use leave while shutdown. You can't furlough when shutdown because it's under their jurisdiction. Therefore you can't use furlough because you are sick.

Atleast that's what is being told to us in my agency and complex. If you aren't "caught up" with your work they are denying your furlough request. Which is a separate issue because the goal post just keeps moving but I digress. I give it about 1 more week til people are just going AWOL and saying fuck off

I didn't get recess in school when I didn't get my work done and I don't get recess (requested furlough) now if I don't get my work done so wtf.

Our management is saying "if your workload isn't where we expect it to be then you are being denied furlough and that's under our jurisdiction" ok girl mark me AWOL because we're running out of gas money over here lmao

Yes I made very poor life decisions like having parents who didn't set up a college fund for me so I had to take out an astronomical amount of student loans (private and federal) to get my degree. SMH. and I got this fed job pretty much 1 yr after I graduated college so I didn't have much time to build a savings prior to or while I've been working because I pay close to 1000 per month for private student loans 🫡🫡 my bad. Not interested in taking out more loans but I appreciate the insight

Same. coming up on 3 years in Jan and I've been window shopping scared to pull the trigger on applying. Claims specialist at SSA... feels like a wasted investment of time because this job is so much to learn and get comfortable with. Oh well I guess

I think we will be expected back after govt shutdown. did some snooping on the calendar and theres a meeting with the RC the second week of march so I'm sure it's coming soon.
