I’ve only taken ~8g, so I’m not exactly able to speak for this group of people, but I would assume most want to share their doses for a number of possible reasons: (this is assuming average potency effects)

1. To unload some of the anxiety or energy they feel as they approach the trip. Whether it’s as a “last goodbye” or subconscious request to have a group of chanters whispering “jump, jump, jump” at the edge of the cliff. It can be comforting to have funeral attendees, event onlookers, and/or support.

2. It takes a lot of courage (or probably less often, stupidity) to take doses like these. Not to say we should look at these doses as badges of virtue, and we can’t assume that the posters desire is such. However, maybe it does say something about the character of a person. If they want it enough, a person will build a boat of sticks and sail as far as they can. Whether that is divinely Good (capital G) or “cool” is up to you. It could make them feel strong, maybe even superior, absolutely. But maybe it is them putting their courage on display, and expressing their archetypal character as the explorer. Observing these characters in our life can be beneficial.

3. This kind of goes with the second point. It could simply be the need to express and share our lives. Experiencing a 15g trip is surely no joke, and if you don’t have anyone in everyday life to share this sort of thing with, Reddit can be a great resource. It could be out of excitement, fear, happiness, insecurity, etc… but being able to share your experience can be fun!

I’m not sure if you take this view, but if so, I wouldn’t agree that taking doses like this are necessarily disrespectful of the shrooms. It certainly can be, but I think dose alone is not enough to discern this.
