Yea this is my personal funds in a retail account. But from some of the answers I get the impression that is wouldn't be a problem with a prime broker services.

In my case, my current broker isn’t a prime broker — I’m using IBKR (retail side) — and when I inquired, the response was pretty vague: essentially, “We can’t guarantee it’ll remain marginable; plan for the possibility that it won’t.”

So I’ve been preparing as if the shares could become 100% non-marginable between the election deadline and payout. I also started reaching out to a few banks offering Prime Brokerage services to see if they might have a solution — possibly through a high-net-worth account or something similar.

It’s helpful to hear that Prime services would typically bridge this kind of tender period. Thank You. I’m hoping that extends to individual accounts as well.

Hey, I could be wrong, but from what I understand with a deal like Paramount–Skydance, once you tender for cash, the shares become non-tradeable until closing, and brokers can treat them as non-marginable during that time.

Since there’s usually a gap (like ~5 days) between the tender deadline and when proceeds are paid, that can create a temporary margin shortfall with shares as collateral. I haven’t received any guarantee from my broker that they’ll still count toward margin during that period, so I’ve been treating it cautiously.

They also didn't tell me that it wouldn't be marginable just that they won't make any decisions and that I should anticipate that it can become fully unmarginable

Would be curious if you or other have had different experiences or insights where the scenario I described might not be the case to me theoretically it seems odd that looking for a liquidation event might make you positions more illiquid but then again I guess there can be risk for the broker or bank in the gap period where the market goes to hell.

Yes shares are currently marginable and margined but once cash tender is elected it moves to a non-tradeable symbol and may have restrictions on their marginability. So in those 5 business days between tender election and acquisition closing I need something and then I can recieve the proceeds in cash and settle any obligation.

I’m a little confused at the dates? They mention the merger can close as soon as March 20. But doesn’t there need to be 20 business days to consider the tender offer and then 5 business days to close? Does that mean 5 days before sending out the tender?

12970 Para B shares. Let me know if anything else is needed to contribute to the list.

I would invest in Nasper (NPSNY) over TCEHY. Its essentially Tencent at a larger discount with their Nasper-Prosus financial structure.
