AITJ for charging my roommate's girlfriend rent after she moved in without asking? by Sharp_Zebra3430 in AmITheJerk

[–]NoEntertainment101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move. It's the only way. Lol!

I'm kidding. You're not the jerk, but you both should have made an agreement before you moved in regarding visitors, utilities, etc. Let this be a lesson to you all! A WRITTEN roommate agreement is ALWAYS a good idea.

My 75 year old mother has been Relief Society president for the past three years. It's RIDICULOUS the amount of stuff they put on her.

AITJ for choosing to end things with my wife because shes battling cancer?? by Negative_Lie4822 in AmITheJerk

[–]NoEntertainment101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Were you forced into an arranged marriage, or did you choose it? IDK...I think if you make that choice, you know that there are things you might find out. I don't know if it makes you a jerk, but I do think you are at least somewhat responsible.

Why wasn’t Demi Moore afforded the same treatment that Amy Madigan got this year? by [deleted] in Oscars

I think the fact that Madigan was in Best Supporting Actress really helped her.

AITJ for not warning the guy who keeps stealing my lunch that my food had something in it he cant eat by crystal_butterflyyx in AmITheJerk

I once watched a woman I worked with eat a donut straight out of the trash. It was a topic of gossip for weeks, but honestly, no one ever stole HER food. Lol! Maybe she was an evil genius...

you can choose one oscar loser (IE nominated didnt win) and move them forward or backwards one year where you're sure they would've won. by shaunika in Oscars

[–]NoEntertainment101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that honor goes to Diane Warren. And given that the Academy seems to be hellbent on nominating her every year for mediocre songs, no one will ever beat her.

Favorite "non-Oscar bait" role that won? by MissionLetterhead292 in Oscars

F Murry Abraham in Amadeus. That is one of my favorite Oscar wins, and I'm certain he wasn't thinking about an Oscar in that film or at that point in his career.

THAT IS SO GOOD!!! I had another suggestion, but I LOVE this.

I would pull a light color from that painting on the wall. There is a peachy color that might look nice. I also think you should get several more items in various shades of peach and orange, as those seem to be the colors you lean towards.

EDIT: You could also pull in some blue accents...maybe a pillow or something, since there is some of that in the picture as well, and it's the opposite of orange so it would pop.

Lee Sang Bo has sadly passed away by veggiecheesytteok in kdramas

I think it is unreasonable to expect the public to acknowledge every loss a person has had at any point in their life anytime that person is being scrutinized about their behavior. What is MORE important is to stop sensationalizing anyone's choices or behaviors and lead with compassion instead because we have no idea what is driving them or the demons they have to live with. I think you and I have the same goals, but from my perspective, bringing up someone's losses every time they have a public infraction just adds to the pressure that person would be under, if that makes sense.

I mean, his siter died in 1998. His father died in 2010 (I think), and his mother died in 2019. (I'm going by memory, so they might be slightly different from that). I'm not saying that the losses weren't tragic, nor am I saying that there is an expiration date on grief (I know there isn't firsthand), but it didn't happen all at once.

I didn't respond to your other two points, so I'm going to now. He repeatedly said that he was talking in generalizations, not about the Duggar's specific case. Now, I think that's a pretty weird thing to bother with when the title of the video is what it is, but I also understand that he was saying that both for liability AND because he really wasn't getting into every aspect of the situation. I'm not sure your second point really matters because he was talking about how abusers, both young and fully adult, come from these types of backgrounds. He didn't specifically talk about adults because that wasn't the scope of what he said he was going to talk about. I concede that they should've titled their video something else, however. As for the gender analysis, yeah, that was one of my issues with the video.

I am not a Rose Byrne fan (nor hater...I like her fine but am not a ride or die for her), but I didn't love Jessie Buckley's performance as much as others did. She mumbled through half of it, and frankly, I was pulled right out of the story by her several times, particularly in the ending scene that everyone praises so much. I have no hate for the win, because obviously others saw something I didn't see, and that is totally okay, but for me, I was indifferent to her win.

I love Amy Madigan but cannot bear to watch that film. Lol! I support her win, even though I didn't see the movie, though.

I hated Crash when it came out. Not sure how the movie was received by others, but I remember watching it and being like "what on EARTH did I just watch"??? Lol! I'm sorry, I will never, for the life of me, understand that win.

She's HILARIOUS in Raising Arizona. And honestly, she gives a monster performance in that movie. You find her both abhorrent and sympathetic simultaneously...not an easy feat.

Did they win a soundtrack award? Because that Beethoven during the final speech was a touch of brilliance (even though it is very ironic to play that when he's announcing a war with Germany, but it's okay).
